^Six with one blow! Nicely done, sir.
^ Well it’s the cancer center webcam, but a great shot still!
Current count:
1 at SoHo
1 at P&G
1 at MLS
1 at City Foundry
3 at Neuroscience
2 at Siteman
2 at Queeny
2 at Forsyth Pointe
1 at Clayton Residence Inn
1 at Mercy Hospital
1 at Streets of St. Charles (Chapter apartments)
Total of 16.
In addition to a few we know for sure, with recent announcements, I would imagine cranes are soon coming to the following.
1 at 1801 Washington (permits issued)
1 at Institute of Health (staging started)
1 at Clayton AC Hotel (demo has stated)
1 at Bemiston Place (demo has started)
1 at Delcrest (Delmar & 170, ground broken)
Total of 21 once those are up, provided some others don’t come down, which is always possible.
Here is some crane info from other cities. RLB only tracks the same 14 cities each quarter, but I'd say St. Louis is holding its own with 17 entering Q2 2022 with several more in the immediate future.

^Well, even if some come down that'll keep the count pretty spectacular for a while.
I drove a slightly different route to my rehearsal this afternoon. (Moved between 44 and 40 at Jefferson rather than the usual Hampton shuffle.) The sight of all that business from the elevated lanes of forty is really pretty spectacular! And just when you think you've seen it all you hit the second cluster in Clayton. It's remarkably visually impressive. It looks like something in another country almost.
This is a great perch for viewing the progress of both the Neuroscience building in the distance and the Foundry phase 2 tower, over by Fresh Thyme. I was surprised to see a core forming already for the Foundry tower.
Speaking of the Neuroscience project...have ya'll seen this structure from I-44 lately? I was on eastbound in the Hampton Ave/Kingshighway segment. Maaaaan. It looks like a monster on the horizon! That is a long, long building.
Mercy crane came down sometime in the last week. Residence Inn crane comes down today and tomorrow.

Fair shot that the Foundry, Edwin and Armory will all have one up at the same time. Reason why I say Armory is that despite the way things look, it seems that it’ll move quick. I expect construction to be underway this late fall.
Good to hear, any word on Cortex MX (or whatever they’re calling it now) at Clayton and Sarah? Would be nice to get that one up too.
I assume that will get one. Unsure when it’ll start.sc4mayor wrote: ↑May 16, 2022Good to hear, any word on Cortex MX (or whatever they’re calling it now) at Clayton and Sarah? Would be nice to get that one up too.
I've been meaning to take the time to snap a few pics of the activity and there are a few locations of alignment where all the cranes from Midtown to Clayton form a colorful string of lights at dusk.
delcrest has a new crane up. But it’s not a tower crane.sc4mayor wrote: ↑May 13, 2022Mercy crane came down sometime in the last week. Residence Inn crane comes down today and tomorrow.

Tower crane sightings:
From January in Clayton
![]()
And from tonight on top of SLU Hospital's new garage. (Well worth the price of admission.)
![]()
I was having a devil of a time getting a good shot in the low light with all the wind, so I may well go back and try again another day. (It's hard enough to focus a camera in the dark when the wind isn't blowing your long exposures all over the place. Maybe daylight will just be the better option. Or a nice sunset view.)

So here's a few rejects, but with cranes:

And just for giggles, a couple of rejected skyline pics. (We know there are cranes in them, I just can't prove it from this vantage.):

Awesome crane pics, SP! Even the rejects look good. Next time we get out you can use my tripod...it's tough to shoot a DSLR in low light without one. In the meantime with the newly applied FAA applications for two Clayton projects, we should soon be up to 18 cranes. I also added a couple of the crawler's that are out there.

^Jumping Jimminy, this is fun to watch! Makes one think we might keep this going a minute or two.
The basically 9 cranes in view when you are heading west on 64/40 out of downtown is pretty cool to see.
Love pointing these cranes out to my friends as we drive downtown. Always nice when college kids have good things to say about the future of this city.

^I wish my SF friends who said there was construction everywhere in 2020 were here to see this now. I'm almost tempted to take up Uber again just to talk to visitors about this stuff, but . . . Uber. (In the meantime we'll just focus on the bespoke SymphonicMiata tours.)
