Overall I like the new design, but it sure suffers from the lack of a prominent corner cornice, as seen in the original design. The whole top two floors look like an afterthought.

The new design also appears thinner.

Not so much thinner as in the chopped off the small leg of the L shape. Which has a ton of design potential (kind of like how everyone loved the 8th street facade of Chemical before they added onto it) but they failed to meet said potential.

I'm not opposed to the top on the building. It gives it that penthouse look. But once again, it doesn't quite meet potential.

Sounds like some good changes were made. This is the way neighbors and developers should work together.

(And yes, having walked my dog along Clayton Road, the extra grass strip is indeed welcome!)

It has been redesigned again. The Clayton review board reviews this today.

So essentially they took the 14th floor, split it in two, and stacked one half on top of the other. Then they threw on a cornice for good measure.

I'm down with that...

Looks like they also physically relocated the building on the property - it's further away from Hanley and a bit closer to Clayton. This might help:

^ It looks they pretty much re work the design and setback to match up with its neighbor. Agree with Framer. Design seems to fit well for that corner.

Yeah I think even the now-tiered top two floors is a reference to the tiered top floor of Hanley Towers. Agree, this seems to be an improvement all around.

Will be nice to have another tower crane in the area. I'm assuming this will require one.

Well at the very least I will no longer wonder why this lot is an empty Schnucks whenever I drive by.

I would’ve thought a tower crane would be used here.
