^Yes, assuming Stan goes rogue and pushes his way into LA and also assuming the NFL actually enforces it's bylaws, Stan will have to decide if he is still going to come out ahead with his investment, without Super Bowls, TV & merchandise revenue , paying a very large relocation fee & spending a ton on litigation
costs. Stan might also consider other factors, like his place in the billionaire boys club, his reputation, the negative perception he will have with the owners etc.... It is a complicated cost-benefit analysis.

Hour & 6 min to go before the peacock plan is out. I'm both nervous and excited

DB, it needs to be spectacular. It needs to address the stadium and immediate area obviously, but it also needs to address the blight all around that area. I drove into Downtown a week or so ago. There are a lot of vacant properties, spray painted abandoned buildings, a *homeless tent village and several other signs of blight, that need to get cleaned up. As Nixon mentioned, this project needs to address much more than just a stadium. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting the announcement. I wonder if Stan and his inner circle will be tuned in.

*(I'm not advocating negatively impacting the homeless, just getting them a proper place to live, not a tent village 1 min. outside of Downtown).

^ The stadium plans are real and they are spectacular. /seinfeld reference

I'm really curious to see what they come up with on the site planning.... how do they deal with the rail line which seems to bisect the potential area? are they able to keep most of the warehouses intact and use them as assets? are they able to extend the Central Riverfront Trail and/or deliver some other riverfront amenities? hopefully we'll be dazzled!

^Hopefully, they can find a way to utilize the riverfront in a positive way as part of the development.

Does that area flood? Is there a flood wall? Would this land have to be raised to avoid high water?

There is a flood wall. The north riverfront trail runs along the flood wall.

^^ yes, there is a flood wall that begins just north of where the old casino was docked... its maybe 12' in height and really is an ugly visual and physical barrier to riverfront access in that area although the North Riverfront Trail is on the flood side.

GRG does have this area as a priority and I wouldn't doubt Peacock/Blitz have been in discussion with them, especially as they can bring $$ to the table. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

^ Can't quite tell what is going on with the rail line but by putting it on the riverfront the complexity is driven up by a factor of a billion and ensuring it will be a long environmental process. Put me in the very skeptical column.

^ looks like tunneling the rail which again is going to drive up complexity and costs. If I were skeptic, I'd say this is just giving cover to the politicos that we have a plan but big bad Stan is an ole meanie.

I don't see the Bob Cassilly riverfront sculpture in the renderings. Artica is going to have to find a new home as well as Shady Jacks.

It could be part that, since the competence of politicians here is something that is really questionable. Also, the rail thing is tied into a transportation and development in the downtown area and region that does need to be addressed. Other threads here has talked about doing something in relation to rail infrastructure here due to having two old rail bridges and possible replacement bridges along with arranging rail for real HSR in the future.

Looks alright but 10k (edit--not all surface) parking spots is totally absurd to me. What's the point of demo'ing those cool old warehouse buildings for empty tar?

One of the biggest complaints I hear about the dome is the lack of surface parking specifically for tailgating.

^ I think that issue is a big reason why football stadiums are more likely than other stadiums to be in suburban settings. The tailgating experience makes football parking a different beast than other sports.
