Yea, huge conventions are just clamoring to use the Dome those winter weekends. Clamoring, I tell you.
dbInSouthCity wrote:If the Rams are playing a new stadium here, that frees up the Dome...
Is that statement factual your honor?
It's factual, but a bit misleading and not a good argument for building the new stadium. Because if the Rams are playing in a new stadium in LA, that frees up the Dome.
I don't care if you make the arguments for building the thing. I think they start with "I like football" but can include "and the tax revenue generated appears to come close to covering the costs and maybe even does."
But I don't think it's fair to include freeing up the Dome as financial gain. That's gain we see regardless of where they go.

Probably not in the way you want them toAesir wrote:Dishonest, lying ripoff of taxpayers, to pay for another white elephant.
Clap all you want, the lawsuits at the city and state level will decide this.
No need to get so angry about thisjstriebel wrote:^ STOP TALKING ABOUT FREEING UP THE DOME. THAT HAPPENS ANYWAYS.
Sorry about the yelling. That's just driving me crazy. The Rams are leaving the Dome very soon. It will be open up for other events. This is not contingent upon building a new stadium.
That doesn't mean your other points aren't fairly valid. But if they are, there's no need to amp them up with misleading points like that.

If we agree to build the Rams a new stadium, the sun will rise tomorrow. Don't you want the sun to rise?

Ideally, the sun would be rising over a town where I can go enjoy a freakin' football game.

Kevin Demoff will be on CBS 920 tomorrow morning at 8 AM. Tim McKernan claims that Demoff has agreed to a format of 'anything is on the table'.
Apparently, KD wanted to push tickets and McKernan said ONLY if you answer ANY questions I have. He agreed. We will see how this goes down. I will be VERY curious to listen to KD the politician talk around the questions, as he always has. I wonder sometimes, if he even knows what Stan is thinking. Being the right hand man of a crude businessman like Stan, has to be different.

Apparently not only was Kevin at the Task Force presentation but also Stan was in the room
Sam Farmer of LA Times say his gut feeling is Carson is the site and that the NFL is very impressed with the plan the Task Force has...making it very difficult to allow Stan to leave and the 6 ownercommittee is more likely to side with Dean Spanos because he has done it the right way and tried for so many years to get something done in SD

Can confirm #Rams owner Stan Kroenke was in attendance at STL task force presentation at #NFL offices in NY

There presence is a requirement by the NFL, I believe. I can't imagine they were there to support the cause and give encouragement.
Then again, if Stan's master plan is to sell the Rams and buy another team in LA or be a landlord in LA (far-fetched), then there could be good reasons to be there. I would love to have been a fly on the wall. I could see Stan there watching, pouting in the back row. As soon as the lights turned on, he probably exited stage left.

doubt he was required...and im pretty sure Stan and peacock are friendly with each other...I think there is this built up media narrative about stan that probably isnt true but him staying silent has let people do a lot of assuming.

Peacock said Stan was very nice and encouraging to him, a few months ago when they crossed paths. Stan also appeared to be yucking it up with his perceived arch enemy Dean Spanos on the field last season in San Diego. Who knows anymore, what is really going on behind the scenes.
I've always thought that there is a VERY slight possibility that Stan could end up looking like a hero in the end, assuming there was a grand plan to 'stand up for football' in St. Louis, while still achieving his LA dreams. That would require working behind the scenes to make sure STL remains an NFL city, whether that be keeping the Rams in STL all along, by forcing our hand to build him a new palace, selling the Rams to local ownership, pursuing another team, just being a landlord or making sure another team comes here. I know this is not likely and Stan probably just wants to cash in, in LA, but we can always hope there is more to the story. The only basis to support any belief that Stan would actually have the best interest of STL in mind, would be the comments he made in 2010 and the continuous comments that Demoff has made. Comments like 'things are only going to get worse before the get better" or " we want to find a stadium solution in St. Louis" and " we want the Rams and St. Louis to have a world class stadium".
Again, it will be very interesting to hear what KD says tomorrow.

more renderings and a possible video later today

The biggest thing that stands out to me is that the concourses are all either completely enclosed or have sections that are completely enclosed, which is a big relief to me. The cold doesn't bother me, but I know a lot of fans will need somewhere to warm up during some of those December (and January, if we ever make it there again) games.

That appears to be Twitter page for the #STLNFL Stadium Task Force, @stlstadium.

Again that rendering makes me annoyed they didn't go big and clear out the crap by the bridge... go large or go home! And by moving the stadium just a bit north they could have kept at least the Laclede Power building and one or two other warehouses south of current O'Fallon St. to incorporate into a much nicer overall site plan.dbInSouthCity wrote:

I've heard second-hand that he kind of likes what they've done

^ Doubt it.... Thomas himself says we all know Stan wants to go to LA and this isn't his project but that he knows he has to have a back up plan if he just can't get Plan A accomplished.

me on phone in a few years. "Ya guy, I'm over here on the bridge over the tracks with the faux football field tailgaiting..."?
