^ i don't like to risk talking to Texans so i didn't ask.
^Another car careened off the highway at this interchange earlier this year and was unfortunately killed.

I saw a dash cam video of this on Reddit (not the STL sub either). Unreal. 55 in South City and a bit of South County might as well be a death trap tho so I guess it’s not super surprising unfortunately...quincunx wrote: ↑Apr 16, 2021KSDK - Woman killed after car goes airborne, crashes in St. Louis County parking lot

I saw the video too and was really surprised at how fast the car was going when it "flew" down the ramp, especially AFTER it hit the median.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Apr 16, 2021I saw a dash cam video of this on Reddit (not the STL sub either). I always prefer the etiquette of 55 compared to 70. But yeah the video is insane. I wonder if she simply went unconscious and went off the road at highway speed. There's no reasonable individual who would try to take that turn at 60-70-80 miles an hour.

^ i can't imagine that she would have passed out and still managed to navigate her way onto and down the exit ramp, in the correct lane, at 80+ MPH. most likely she was intoxicated. i'm sorry but, barring some sort of medical emergency or mechanical malfunction that caused her car to accelerate to 20+ MPH over the speed limit against her will, i have no sympathy for her.

That entire interchange is such a nightmare. Even as a seasoned driver of that stretch I've watched several near misses with merging, playing on phones. If not to reconnect our street grid and riverfront, it should be removed just out of sake of public health.

And somebody ran through the fence on a lot near City Museum.
I'm certain every single fenced parking lot along the north end of downtown has been driven into at high speed at least once per year.

Legendary German architect Helmut Jahn, who had a huge impact on large-scale Midwest architecture (for better or worse, I guess) was killed Saturday while riding his bike in Chicago. He was hit by two cars; details unclear.
