I thought we already had that.

Reminds me when I saw an impatient driver go into the opposite lane to get around vehicles waiting in a left turn lane for an ambulance to go by on the cross street attempt to make the left turn and almost crash into the ambulance. Just terrible that the folks kept busy by wrecks and traumatized by their unnecessary carnage get in one themselves.

In 2013 when my daughter started driving, I bought a car (2014 Subaru) that slams on the brakes if the cameras see something it will hit. Including pedestrians. It only needed to do it a couple of times -- 1) on a Delmar Loop dead end side street when I pulled under a very low hanging tree, and 2) whenever I approach a parking garage gate arm way too fast.
I will never buy another car that doesn't have this feature. A couple of years ago a man was hit and killed in a crosswalk on Geyer Rd in Kirkwood as he was walking to the park. The driver said she didn't see him. What a lifetime of regret that driver could have avoided.

Back to our local carnage.

Big Bend and Forsyth must be one of the worst intersections in the region for crashes. I see cop cars there often and a friend at WashU lets me know when some incidents happen. Tonight, I saw one happen there.
Drunk lady on her phone turned left from Northbound Big Bend onto West Forsyth, but Southbound cars on Big Bend (including me) had the right of way here. She continued to turn anyway, clobbering a pickup truck, breaking the axle and popping the tire along with crunching in some of the drivers side of the truck. Her car, a Lexus SUV, was crunched in at the front and was leaking some sort of fluid.
Everyone was ok, but the woman was so drunk she couldn't stand or walk a straight line. AND she had the audacity to come over to the victim of this accident and ask him, along with his brother, father and myself (witness), "so what exactly happened? I didn't see it". Well no sh*t lady. You're drunker than a skunk and were nose deep in your cell phone. Lay off the liquor/alcohol and put the phone down next time and maybe you will have seen it coming.

This went down right in front of my apartment on Russell at 1 am. After running outside to help the guy get out of the flipped over car we gathered from those involved that it was a dispute between disgruntled lovers. They were fighting and and one drove the other off the road, both cars were total though so now neither guy has a car. Somehow nobody was hurt.
Also the parked Prius that took the brunt of the wreck belonged to some poor AirBnBers from out of town. Fun story about STL for them to bring home.
Strange night

Somebody took out a tree and a bunch of fencing on North Tucker opposite McDonald's, ending up in the parking lot.
One of those jersey barriers on North Broadway under the Stan Span looks freshly halved and relocated, presumably by a runaway car. The number that haven't been impacted by cars is quickly dwindling.
You can't walk around the city without seeing this stuff every day.

The aforementioned crash off North Tucker.
Pretty impressive that you can take out a tree, a fence, travel across a parking lot and still have enough momentum to smash a parking block. Somebody had to be going like double the limit or more. It's a straight stretch of road, too.

Almost died today on I-64 when a moron on a VW Tiguan (Texas plates) decided to swerve into my lane at the last minute (exit ramp for Big Bend).

Texans are cancer. was in Philly last week; fat-*ss SUVs and pickups with Texas plates everywhere.
- 474
Are they actually Texans or just rentals licensed in Texas?
