BJC encourages their people to live in the Grove and drive to the CWE for work/school. Makes sense.

It will be a critical piece of bike infrastructure that will get tons of use by bikes and scooters. It will make cycling a more viable form of transportation throughout the corridor, which is truly invaluable.

As a footpath though? It will certainly be used by pedestrians but it won't likely be a pleasure walk like the Beltline in Atlanta, Charlotte Rail Trail, or Monon Trail in Indy. Those trails have their own ROW. Brickline is mostly carved out of streets. Yes it will be extremely high quality infrastructure but like most sidewalks the traffic will rely on the density of the surrounding neighborhood and the granularity of what is built on the street itself.

That's why I kind of wish GRG would tone down the amenities of this trail and just build out the route first, just leave space for the gardens and interpretive signs that can be installed later. Not that I am complaining too much, GRG is making steady progress here, I am just impatient for my bike highway.

^ I agree. I think casual or slow cyclists will use it but more comfortable or serious riders will hate the conflicting pedestrians who will treat it like a wide sidewalk. It won’t resemble a trail, it’s a large sidewalk that cyclists are allowed to use.

The finished market street portion has a separate pedestrian and cycling path. Not sure if that’s the plan throughout the whole thing.

Yea the whole point is two-way traffic. Bikes have their own path, peds have their own. They are separated by green space and merge at intersections.

I drive this stretch of Boyle across Clayton Ave at least twice daily... What I'm seeing in these schematics makes a lot of sense. I also see that some of the lanes drawn onto the schematics don't currently and presume won't exist - like the absence of a northbound lane on Boyle where they drew it as a 'left turn only'. Drawings like these are fallible. Do know that Clayton Ave has a lot of traffic connecting the 64/40 entrance to BJC. I'm personally glad to see the southbound Boyle right lane cutout turned into part of the cycling network; makes tremendous sense.

It will be just as detrimental to Greater St. Louis Inc if this section of Brickline in particular doesn’t provide the outcome promised. GSTL has spent the better part of five years advocating for this project.

It’s North Grand or bust in 2025-2030, IMO.

Idk, there haven't been any negative consequences for the pushers of the Musial bridge, AFAIK.

As in it would be just as negative for GSTL to under deliver as it would be for the city. Did I misspell?

Are you saying it will be detrimental if it doesn't deliver as promised? You seem to be saying it will be detrimental if it does.

I don't see the North Grand section of the Brickline being particularly catalytic to development until it's connected to the greater system to the south

I don’t think the impact of this project is going to be cyclists or those using the system. When North Grand section is done, it’ll be the largest completed section.

The impact is going to come from placemaking. An entirely new corridor in St. Louis that will be comfortable and attractive to those not in cars.

Tons of people in N StL get around on bikes, often at the risk of their lives on these streets. Super happy those folks will now have a relatively safe place to bicycle

Prepare to be disappointed. The forces that undermine this area are and will still be in place for the near future.

This area would definitely benefit greatly from North Sarah style redevelopment up to Fairground Park. Mixed use, mixed income development in this area would go a long way to stabilizing these neighborhoods and mark Grand Center more attractive to development as well.

Exactly, this stretch of North Grand is so bombed out that even if every single building was magically renovated there still wouldn't be enough of them together anywhere to form a cohesive "place"

Thoughtful, mixed use infill, needs to be used strategically to revive some corridors of walkable activity. Probably would need to be heavily subsidized but I'm alright with that.

My problem with the brickline is that it's not really a greenway. Basically redoing the road and sidewalks. Should try and patch together empty blocks north of downtown towards and then into Fairground park. That park is pretty sad looking too and could use investment. It's got more roads going through it than trees. Then do the same up to O'ffalon Park.

hmm Just a thought Maybe Jones should have really rallied that idea and gotten it done or at least started
That possibly would have given those constituents in that area a reason to support Jones

Fairgrounds Park needs a foundation like they have in Forest Park or TGP. Unfortunately local residents don't have a lot of spare cash to throw at park beautification.
