Every time I go by here, I'm still surprised to see it missing like this.
^They have just been pushing all the demo rubble over the edge today, so that crawler crane will probably be gone soon. They don't seem to be using it except to move equipment from one level to the next.

^Once they're done with demo I expect construction will start fast. They're not going to want to leave that one sitting idle long. They need the space. So another crane will doubtless replace it quickly.
They paid for 16 hr days and 6 day weeks. They're definitely in a hurry for some reason.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Sep 12, 2021^Once they're done with demo I expect construction will start fast. Probably need to burn some money before the end of the year.aprice wrote: ↑Sep 12, 2021They paid for 16 hr days and 6 day weeks. Replacement tower crane was approved a couple of days ago. 11/21 start...we'll see if that holds true though.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Sep 12, 2021^Once they're done with demo I expect construction will start fast. Height of the crane tops out at 498'. We will have another crane above the CWE skyline here soon. 498' leaves clearance for a potential tallest in the CWE here.
^ I believe the East and West cranes for the ambulatory center were approved too, but still listed 8/1 as the start so I didn’t post it.
Should have three more cranes going up in the next couple months in the CWE. Maybe more if Cortex MX requires one.

It's not like the tower cranes in the Neuroscience Center. The height is measured to the top of the diagonal luffing jib, extended as vertically as possible, which would probably account for about a third of that height given the building footprint. So, at best I think it would only provide clearance for something in the 280-320' range, which is the same range as Queeny Tower and the main hospital building.newstl2020 wrote: ↑Sep 16, 2021Height of the crane tops out at 498'. I drove by this today, and seen they have the renderings up for the new building hung up along the fence. While it does mirror the north tower in design, it appears taller than the main building. I hope it looks better in person.
And mark me down as one of the few that was disappointed to see the Queeny tower come down.

So I finally took a video as I drove by the fence banner today and spotted a significant difference in the frame showing the rendering ( second picture comparing to the rendering posted in this thread previously-first picture)imran wrote: ↑Aug 22, 2021Don’t we just love the obligatory dead wall section along the sidewalk?
Even though it’s probably just fake or frosted windows (and they moved the blank area to a smaller section on the south end) but maybe someone in that design team gets it & is pushing for more pedestrian scale details.
They are each sucky, but I think I prefer the first, with glass on both sides of the corner at the major intersection. And it's hard to compare, but it seems as though the windows at the base are larger on the first image as well. Besides, I don't think huge frosted glass walls are much of an improvement over stone.imran wrote: ↑Sep 19, 2021So I finally took a video as I drove by the fence banner today and spotted a significant difference in the frame showing the rendering ( second picture comparing to the rendering posted in this thread previously-first picture)imran wrote: ↑Aug 22, 2021Don’t we just love the obligatory dead wall section along the sidewalk?

^Queeny Tower is no more, but for a few columns and walls. Just the garage and ground floor hospital connections left now:

According to KMOV, groundbreaking is in October for this 16 stories of boring beigeness:

This video has a ton of renderings of both the outside and inside. Also sounds like a new replacement pedestrian bridge will connect to the garage across the street. Cafeteria will be on the ground floor with an outdoor seating section at sidewalk level. Two more outdoor roof gardens too.
Glad to see an entire ground floor renovation of Barnes Plaza even if it is a bit disappointing.
I'm not sure if they think the current bridge to the Hudlin Park garage is undersized but I actually prefer the current bridge.

The current bridge won some awards for architecture/engineering when first built
^ They’re certainly not going to stand out in terms of uniqueness but I don’t think the two newest buildings are all that bad. Just my opinion though.

Edit: Whoops, sorry framer, I now see you were referencing the bridge, I must have quickly read it as beige considering the discussion haha. Anyway, I also like the existing bridge and the lighting within. I've seen some local photographers catch some really, really great shots inside of it.
