I got some good info, nothing I can share at the moment, but some stuff I can give background info on when it's announced.  The marketing efforts will start to be locally driven now, they're getting their people in place.

Did these photos not show up for everyone else?
I can't see them.

I guess ThunderCats was taken...

One positive about the name though is that it is a perfect end-run around the IP rights of the  Atlanta (St. Louis) Hawks, we can just say that the first six letters of BattleHawks are silent.  :)

Silent!? 'Battle' is the best part! Battle plans, Battle stations, Battleground and "the BattleDome, Home of the Battling, Bad-Ass BATTLEHAWKS
This writes itself.

Why isn't "BattleHawks" two words? Or one word in a grammatically correct way? It bothers me. It's arbitrary and stupid. None of the other team names sh*t on grammar.

Does this league make it to the completion of its first season?   I'd say 30% yes.

I think with the money behind it (and tv carriage) the first full season won't be a problem. After that we will see.

All games except one of the Saturday games are on ABC or FOX. Sunday are on a combination of ESPN/ABC/FS1. I think just having them on major networks will keep enough interest. ESPN will probably push it and that will help.

Are those carriers paying for the rights or is XFL paying them for the time slots like the league that folded few months ago

They aren't getting money for them but the networks are covering the production costs, which can be expensive. Either way more exposure should in turn help advertising dollars. I can't imagine the other league was getting much from cbs sports network games. Which is why I think it at least makes it thru the first season. After that who knows.

4 reasons the XFL television deal is better than the AAF's strategy

Unless it is no pads, no helmets, no out-of-bounds, and the field is completely surrounded by a 20' tall chain-link fence....

I got to talk with a couple of the guys from the BattleHawks at the STL FC game the other night. They seem like good guys that have reasonable expectations for what they are building. They were very positive and didn't do any NFL bashing (which is what I kind of expected, I guess?). It was good to hear.

^A what kind of hawk sound?

Granted, I don't know what a BattleHawk sounds like, but Ka-Kaw sounds more a like a crow than, well, any kind of bird of prey.

The FB group seems to have adopted it jokingly as the team's battle cry.  They've also randomly named the Tampa Bay Vipers as our arch rival.  I think it's all pretty damn funny.  You gotta have a sense of humor when it comes to supporting the XFL. #KaKaw

I joined that FB group. It's a train wreck on wheels! This is gonna be fun to watch play out. Especially this first season. For most of us, sports rituals were long established before we were born—M-I-Z, M Go Blue, Rock Chalk, and so on. There's going to be a lot of false starts, attempts and fads until something collectively and organically catches on. I hope the XFL lasts just so we can go back and say, "remember 15 years ago when everyone was saying Ka-Kaw? What crazy times those were!" Can't wait for the first game at the BattleDome!

If this league is going to be super cheesy, as the team names suggest, might as well fully commit to it.

They should let fans come up with nicknames for each of the players, and then introduce each player of both teams before the game, with a short backstory, ample spotlighting, music, smoke, etc., and the requisite cheering / booing.  Maybe have the referees part of the entertainment too.
