The point is moot. The sources you mention didn't say the deal was dead as Fox2 news reported. They said, "probably dead." There is a distinction.

And even if their anonymous sources indicated it was dead, it shouldn't be reported as fact until it is official. Until it is fact, it should be conveyed as opinion.

Why argue just for the sake of it? If it's possible to lose my patience, you're testing it. ;)

I think you're splitting hairs on this one. And I don't have many left!

No journalist on the planet is going to name a source, or pretty soon they won't have any.

Actually, the policy at news organizations is to have more than one source, to name the sources, and to offer a reason why a source's name is being wittheld. That way, readers and viewers are better able to evaluate the likelihood that a report is accurate.

Yeah, and hopefully they verified it through multiple sources. But they certainly can't name them in this case, for obvious reasons.

My contacts close to the deal indicate this man was the key source for the recent Fox2 news report on Centene/BPV: http://tinyurl.com/2q9j9y

"Everyone please be patient. This is a complex project, with many players involved. But rest assured, we are all working dilligently to bring you a fantastic product--something the Cardinals, Cordish, and the City can all be proud of. We are working. This IS moving forward."

OPTIMIST...BPV was slated for success long before Centene considered being a part. Not quite back to the drawing board, as much work was complete long before this tangled the web.

PESSIMIST...if this things couldn't proceed with a HUGE tenant commitment by a company looking to move it's HQs there, what faith are we left with?

Leaning towards the latter....

This is utterly embarassing and disappointing. To think that for years the City of St. Louis has battled against high-profile employers not even considering downtown as their location and finally we get an up-and-coming business to not only come downtown but build a nice shiny tower. However, the friggin developer has dragged their feet for WAY too long (and I'll blame them since their other developments have had big issues) and now they are not only leaving downtown, but might possibly leave St. Louis altogether.

Add to the disappointment and embarassment but now all of the urban renaissance naysayers will just laugh and point at this loss of an opportunity and public relations nightmare.

Congrats to those who mucked up this deal.

^ I just dont understand how Slay and the city leaders let this happen. If I were a city a leader I would have done anything to accommodate a major company downtown. EVEN IF THAT MEANT SCREWING OFF CORSHIT.

I bet the West County mom's will pay $40 to park their Escalades on the beautiful new surface lot. :?

Truly a huge disappointment. We need to get our act together.

This could very well cost Slay any chance of getting re-elected.

Another thought: I wonder if other parties f*cked with this just so they could screw with Slay?

All we need now is for DeWitt to sell the team...and the comparison to Arlington will be complete.

^^ Eh? That idea is absurd. There were clearly substantive issues with the parties that haven't been publicized. Check out jlblues post here for a better idea: http://www.urbanstl.com/viewtopic.php?t ... start=3045
