I thought the office for the St. Louis Wrestlling Club (Sam Muchnik, Larry Matysik) was located there for a time.

That's why I was reading this thread, because I thought I saw a pic of their office door sign on this site. Anyone have an idea? I'm also going to recheck the Built St. Louis site for the pic.

I heard a radio commercial on either KTRS or KMOX about the Arcade Building. It announced they would be opening a sales office in a month or so.

I was impressed to see that Pyramid placed an ad for the Arcade in this week's Business Week.

I can't wait until the Arcade and the Syndicate are done, or at least mostly done...these 2 buildings are huge...and having them renovated will make a huge difference downtown

^ No kidding. And it wasn't that many years ago when they were this close to becoming parking lots.

We often talk about how Saint Louis has a long way to go. That's fine, but we shouldn't take for granted how far we've come!

The Arcade sales office is being built in the Paul Brown building to the east of the Olive Street entrance. They are moving quickly and it should be ready soon.

Lots of radio ads for the Arcade during the Cards' radio broadcast yesterday. Good to hear them pushing this development and downtown.

I heard that ad yesterday - it's a boomer-aged woman talking to her son. She starts telling him how she and her husband are moving downtown, and he responds by telling her that he and his wife are looking to move downtown as well. While it's obviously an ad for the Arcade, it's a good ad for downtown in general as well.

Take that, T.R. Hughes!

Whenever I am pissed off I look at this building and see the potential. It is very exciting especially given the Metro station at 8th and Pine. It is euphoric walking out of the station to see that building under construction.

Anyone know if there is a digital copy of the Vomit invoking rendering of the parking garage once proposed for the Arcade/wright/PB site. A color rendering was published in the Post in the 90's and is in the Arcade file @ the dt library... I think it would be fun if someone could post it...It would be good for many laughs at would could have been.

Also in this month's Vanity Fair (Bruce Willis on the cover).

I have inquired before and these are local ad placements, so they aren't going out nationwide. I would be curious to know how widely these versions are distributed. St. Louis area only? Kansas City? Chicago?

The ACC blog recently did an entry on this:

It's an ok piece overall, not any new info in it, but this line ticked me off:

However, the continued prevalence of extreme poverty and even homelessness in the city begs the question: is high-end housing what St. Louis really needs?

They're hanging large sales banners on the corners along 8th street. 100 foot by 100 foot in size is my rough guess. When I was coming back from lunch they were putting the last banner up that will face south on the corner of 8th/Pine. There was other banners facing east at the corner of 8th/Pine and 8th/Olive. I can only assume there's another banner facing north at 8th/Olive.

My socialist tendencies say that low income housing is important but not Downtown. It is also not practical. The poor do not have the money to support retail.

Don't you love how the spring downtown housing tour brings out the new banners, display lofts and retail openings.

Huh?

Yeah, bringing tax revenue in the form of middle-upper class Americans is a bad idea for the city. We should definitely continue to focus on keeping the city a place that is hostile to those that fit the demographic of a potential urban resident, and push for lower class housing in and around downtown so maybe we can get rid of those pesky sports franchises that bring people in from the surrounding areas almost nightly.

High end housing is the last thing you would ever want to come into your neighborhood. Good, law abiding, tax paying citizens is NOT what this city needs!!!

EDIT: That last comment is not meant to say that those that cannot afford high-end housing (read: those like me) are not good, law abiding tax paying citizens.

I went to see one of the display units for the Arcade last week and LOVED it. I really like the floorplan and they're offering some cool upgrades. The bamboo floors are beautiful!

Just looking over some of the more pricey units (c. 618,000). They claim that these are three-story units that are in the neighborhood of 2,400 sq ft, but the third floor is a (private??) rooftop deck. I wonder if they are counting the deck within the square footage beacuse the floor plan doesn't look like 2,400. How are they doing the decks? Is the roof parceled out to individual owners with privacy fences around the spaces? I don't know how useable those spaces would be surrounded by a high fence, but without a fence, the space wouldn't have any privacy at all?
