If we provide blackout curtains. Then why live in the building if you can't enjoy the view half the time? Why that spend unnecessary money trying to light the outside when there are already paying residents that will do that for you?

I think they can light the exterior without blasting units with light. There has to be a way to make this building the signature tower in STL at night. If they will need to be subtle, the Beacon plan is good.

We could do what Civil Courts Building does and light up the parts of the building that don't interfere with anything inside. For example they could do this with all the parking floors they have. I'm thinking something like this

(Ignore the the Peabony building lol)

I really like the idea that outlines the building’s shape with LED strips, I think it was @addxb2 who proposed it. However, if that’s not possible due to the residences, I wonder if they could have some kind of LED sign over the parking floors, sort of like the OKC Boardwalk proposal.

Since the windows are black glass, does that do anything to help block out light on the inside?

I imagine you just make a black metal back surround behind the LED strips that gently curves behind to flag the light off of the windows but make it visible from outside the building.

Not an engineer, just work with lighting in video a lot.

Since the first few floors will be amenities, retail, parking, this could work. There was some rendering in recent years where Gateway Foundation/city was working to potentially try to do this type of lighting at least with the horrible parking garages facing the gateway mall.

No building makes me want to puke quite like the Peabody, can’t ever ignore it lol

Just getting any light will improve even the on street experience. It’s so dark under that building

Here's nearly a 360 degree view from the rooftop of 909 Chestnut, using Google Earth's model.

Barely anything in the range of visibility has actually change from when this model was created, (which was pretty recent).

This was taken using an app called Wooorld on a Meta Quest 3.

St. Louis could see major downtown renovation in the coming years helped by legislation signed into Missouri law by Gov. Mike Kehoe on Monday.
Kehoe signed a large economic development bill that includes incentivizing the conversion of vacant or underused properties into new housing.
For St. Louis, that could mean changes to the AT&T tower and Railway Exchange building.
Through the legislation, cities could apply for an area to become a Missouri innovation zone and be able to use incentives distributed by the state Department of Economic Development.
Cities must include proposed district boundaries, identify vacant and underutilized properties as well as provide projections of anticipated housing and employment growth in their application. Cities may only establish one of those districts.
Additionally, the legislation allows for up to $50 million annually in tax credits toward the conversion of buildings into residential spaces.
Sen. Steve Roberts, D-St. Louis, said the legislation will ultimately lead to more people living in downtown St. Louis.
"The passage of House Bill 3231 was critical in our efforts to continue revitalizing Missouri's main streets, central business districts, and downtowns," Kehoe said in a statement.
