Tower crane going up!
I didn't expect a tower crane to go up here since the building is shorter than other Lux properties. Glad to see that I was wrong.jshank83 wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021Tower crane going up!

So, what was the 6+ month delay about? I know it can't be the building permit, as that's never stopped Lux before...

I walked to soulard market on Saturday pretty much entire spring and summer and I don’t recall ever walking by and thinking “this hasn’t been an active site in a long time” no not sure where this 6 month delay is coming from. Did lumber delivery slow the pace down? Maybe?
Maybe you were so enthralled with your phone, the lack of activity just couldn't penetrate?dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 29, 2021I walked to soulard market on Saturday pretty much entire spring and summer and I don’t recall ever walking by and thinking “this hasn’t been an active site in a long time” no not sure where this 6 month delay is coming from. See page 5 of this thread. The garage was complete, crane disassembled, and the whole site excavated by mid-January. From your own picture, wall framing didn't start going up until late August. So what on Earth were they doing all that time if there was no construction pause?
Great to see another crane go up in the City! I also wouldn't have expected one here. Nice surprise.
As far as the delay...probably supply chain issues if I had to guess. That's the biggest thing affecting my industry's lead times right now. Items that used to ship in a couple of weeks are taking 3, 4, 5 months or longer. Some of our high tech equipment has LTs out to next year.
Anyway, great to see this one in full swing again.

This seems to be moving along very quickly now. It seems like the west side is entire built out (as in outer structure is up to the top floor). Starting on the east side now. A lot of lumber on site.

I expect the main structure to be fully formed by mid January.

StlToday - City board grants more tax incentives for Soulard apartment project
https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... ca66d.htmlThe Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority on Tuesday agreed to increase the amount of industrial revenue bonds to $54 million from $40 million. St. Louis-based Lux Living told the city that rising construction costs prompted the developer to seek additional money from its lender. Lux's lender, who was not named during the meeting, requested the increase in bonds before it agreed to give additional money.
Snagged a pic of this thing on my way onto the highway. Windows going in.
To no surprise, this project is getting picketed by labor unions. Today I believe it was electrical and masons. I've seen Big Surs work up close while under construction, as an architect, if these projects had my companies name on it I would be pretty appalled and embarrassed at the quality of work. But that seems to be par for the course for Lux Living.

Drove by this morning and the brick fronting is pretty much complete on the stretch of the building facing 7th.

For some reason I didn’t think they were utilizing red brick or might have missed a recent rendering.

^They definitely have some interesting amenities in there. Is the music lounge intended as a practice/performance space for residents, or are they planning to feature local acts? (Or maybe a bit of both.)

Maybe someone has already said this but shouldn't the apartments be called SoCho (south of Chouteau?)
Something to do with (street?) parking is on the Parking Commission Jun 23 agenda

I am continually impressed by the continual parade of wrecked cars that are in front of this building/project. It seems like every 2 or 3 days there's a new wrecked/damaged car in the 7th/Broadway/Park area. I think the week before Christmas there were two wrecked cars waiting for pickup. Looks like a new one from NYE is still there today.

Would be interesting if a traffic circle could be incorporated here.
