A boring design with little to no street activation. They even put the cafe on the 3rd floor because: parking.
What a disappointment this turned out to be.

^^ I've never seen renderings that realistic. That garage is hideous; they could at least put a red screen or some greenery on it to hide the raw concrete. I don't think I expected more from them in terms of street-level activation, but a cafe would've been great on the ground floor. It seems as though they purposely tried to bring as little to the Cortex as possible with the addition of an elevated walkway.

I guess that's so it's on the same level as the hamster tunnel?

Agreed. If they add some clues, puzzles and killing of "neuroscience" zombies, there's a smooth transition to a video game there.

Unfortunate to see the three lanes of garage entrance/egress between the entrance and the corner closest to Cortex. But nonetheless, just the scale of it should bring significant daytime activity, even with the garage and hamster tube.

Great video (I kind of miss Rooster Guy, though).

This has gone vertical. The Western half of the building is out of the ground and columns for the first floor have been poured.

Tower crane was jumped today. The columns along Duncan are huge in person.

^There's half a dozen segments sitting next to the shorter one as well. I guess that's the main reason for jumping the taller one since it should already be tall enough. Shorty needs to be much taller to erect the garage, and not a good idea to have them at the same height... 🙂

I didn't even notice those. I found it weird that they were jumping the crane so much considering it seemed tall enough to start with.

Yeah, tall enough to erect the Neuroscience building, but not to clear the boom of the shorter crane, which obviously will have to clear the 209' tall building itself.

The FAA determination records only show one crane at this site, at a height of 315'. I dunno why there's only one record, but after the jump, the larger one seems taller than that to me...🤔

Anyway, should make for an impressive line of cranes along I-64 once they erect the tower crane for the hospital expansion...

$32M building permit for the parking garage issued

PostMay 21, 2021#68

$151M building permit addendum (#561929) issued. Is that in addition to the $78.3M (#561034), so 151 +78.3, or does it replace the $78.3M one? In other words is there double counting or not?

Some steel going up along Newstead.  On a side note, these two cranes make for an imposing impression when heading eastbound on 40 approaching Kingshighway.

^The top of that steel framing is where the landscaped outdoor cafe/roof garden will be.

The utility building is now rising next to it.

I'm surprised at how tall the pillars are along Duncan. Other than that, the project is coming along and it's presence is really starting to be felt.

Hadn't seen these two renderings with the "WashU Medicine" on the roof:

^ It's very simple but it adds some notoriety to the building and keeps it from being a blank face, I like it.

Also appears to be some signage on the skywalk now as well, not sure if that was there before.

OxBlue - WUNeuroscience

They've started erecting the garage, and the site is getting very tight.  The camera is so dirty I can't be sure, but it looks like there is a base for a third tower crane installed next to the Metro tracks?

Also, they have had Newstead completely closed down awhile now.
