OxBlue - WUNeuroscience

Rebar and a few columns already poured and extending the full height of the Basement, to above grade.

For anyone wondering, the top of the rooftop screenwall will be 209'-3" above the NE entrance at Duncan Ave., according to the elevation drawings. So, pretty tall, and I think about the same height as the other recent additions to the BJC/WUMC campus.

Also, any really hardcore animal lovers should probably avoid looking at the Basement Level architectural plans... 😶

I think each segment of the mast is typically 20' long, and it looks like there are about 12 segments from grade to boom, including the control cab...

I was the campus Civil Planner for medical school when this was planned and I did not need this reminder.

Mice and rat mazes and zebra fish tanks are specifically mentioned, but the number and size of holding / isolation / cage rooms would seem to imply something more than small rodents and fish.

I was driving by yesterday and noticed across the street they are building something next to the food truck park at BJC - anyone know what's going on that grassy lot?

To me it looked like it was the exterior wall mock-up.  I think they had something similar for the new Kingshightway Buildings on the lot next to the Greek Church.

I'll try and get a photo of it... its quite out of place/odd placing for something temporary... I'm sure someone will know what it is

It may be related to the renovation of the first floor of the McKinley / Couch Biomedical Research Building: https://planningprojects.med.wustl.edu/ ... enovation/

Just drove by on my way home. It’s going to be for facade and material mock ups / displays. There’s a WUSM banner on the fencing that even references the new Neuroscience building.

Agreed Patrick! I was able to drive by and see it last night. Seeing the red LED lit cranes makes me wish they would add some more lit signage and/or up-lighting to their WashU buildings.  Like how Centene has their LED lit parapets. The recent med campus branding and placemaking signs are great, and I think they could do even more to really show off their campus.

This video gives you a good idea of how the building will look and fit into its surroundings. Some fun facts:
When the state-of-the art building at 4370 Duncan Ave. is finished, it will hold enough steel to stretch 2,125 miles, enough drywall to cover 31 football fields and enough concrete to fill 6,500 truckloads.  https://source.wustl.edu/2020/12/construction-progresses-on-neuroscience-research-building/
