^Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Yeah, I was out on a drive and had no idea this particular structure was there . . . because it had been hidden inside modern construction until a few years ago. It really makes you wonder what's under the aluminum siding in some of our older neighborhoods. Heck, maybe even brick or stone walls from 1890 could be reskins "modernizing" older buildings.

Thank you. I'd forgotten I was going to give the answer. So I'm glad you found it. :)

If you want to know ho completely and utterly buried it was . . .

I really wouldn't even guess that big farmhouse surrounding it was new. Maybe from the twenties? But man, that thing was lost in there. I expect folks trying to drive a nail had an idea something was weird. Or anyone looking at a door frame. No idea where they got the timbers to reconstruct the gallery or the attic space. Would love to learn more about that once the place is open again. I have that down as a future exploration project.

Anyway, you're up ebo. :)

^^Come on, chaifetz10, knowledge about greater Cahokia is the only thing I have to show for the years I spent working in Sauget.

I have not ventured to far afield during the stay at home, so I'll have to get creative if I'm going to post something.

Looks like that was a shoe store at 1505 Chouteau. That said . . . would someone else be so kind as to post the next one?

Okay, so as to keep this ball rolling I went digging through the archive. I don't think I've posted this one before, but . . . well . . . if I have it will be easier.

Well, there's a house like that along Macklind just north of Chippewa, but there's also a couple of "clinker" apartments in the Moorelands. I'm sure there are a few others here and there.

I lived by that house for several years and it was always strange to me. I like it but at the same time, I wonder why it’s like that. I guess the owners wanted something unique instead of the gingerbread style houses that are all over this area

It was in a Landmarks newsletter a few years ago: Landmarks Newsletter

There was also a small P-D article about it and the Dinks Parrish Laundry building on Olive: Two St. Louis buildings harken back to 1900s laundry wars
