The brickwork is going up now. Looks like a nice combination of brick and "stone".
Steve Patterson has a good picture of this development on his site. It is shaping up nicely. I would love to see more of this type of building on major streets. A couple more of these would patch up Lindell perfectly.
^GAAH. Overall, it's a decent-looking building, but why, why, why did the architect feel the need to stick those bay windows on there?
^ To allow the tenant a better view of the McDonald's across the street.

Great pic. This project would look even better if the Arby's wasn't there.

yeah, but the new Arby's looks nicer than the old one. Miss the old big sign though.

Yea for urban inill of urban design!
Build more and always find ways to build better.

What is up with the roof in the upper right corner of the photo... the top floor of the SE corner of the building? Is that a false front--in stucco?

Almost all done... They were hanging the outside lighting fixtures and finishing the rear parking garage this past week
Forgot to post last week, but they are open and accepting residents.. The ground level retail spaces still need quite a bit of work, but the neon and clock is up on the east side of the front.

While one would certainly be justified in nit-picking on the quality of design (the detailing in general, the bay windows, materials, the already mention false front in stucco, etc), the project certainly has great massing and a great relationship to the street. We certainly need more mixed-use urban infill like this going up.
As a side note, hopefully with the economy the way it is they can still successfully rent the commercial spaces. Any word on planned occupancy?

Quick pic of the sign....

Great sign. And I love the picture. A lot of good stuff in one shot.

Very cool picture. Love the sign. I like the AAA building next door too - makes for a cool contrast with the Moolah and Continental buildings.
The Lindell-Vandeventer corner deserves something better than a Rally's though.

I was checking out their website, and it occured to me that these are pretty expensive apartments for the location. Anyone know how leasing is going?

Do you really think that's expensive for the location Framer? It seems to me like it's pretty much the going rate for that size and all it offers in the CWE. It does seem like they are trying to attract young professionals and by looking at the downtown loft dwellers, they seem to be the ones with the money.
It's expensive for ANY part of the city. $1,250.00 for an efficiency, backed up to a parking garage on a stretch of Lindell that suffers from drive-thru commercialism and not a lot of cultural richness is awfully high. Professional athletes can sign a year lease or more, and throw this petty cash away, but anyone other than the player set should consider buying instead. This will undoubtedly provide tremendous encouragement to developers and embolden them to build rental units, albeit hopefully a more affordable product that invites, comforts and serves without breaking the bank.

There are a lot of students at SLU with wealthy parents. I'm amazed at how many students live in pricey buildings like the Coronado and the Continental. I'm sure there are probably some students living in this building as well.
