I can't imagine driving all the way to Gardner from KC for a show. Makes the Factory seem close in comparison
It’s revealing that the Gardner project doesn’t get near the opposition the Plaza redevelopment and construction incentive is receiving or the Royals stadium situation. Chiefs stadium thing is the same way. Kansas news on this subject is far more positive and receptive than anything Missouri side. It’s like they don’t want to grow and evolve.
Chiefs stadium deal is objectively horrific. Way worse than the Royals stadium deal.

KU Med Center is Kansas’s main med school and hospital located right on the border with KCMO at 39th street.
KU Med located has topped out on their new 675,000 square foot cancer research and treatment center. The project comprises two connected midrises and has two tower cranes at this moment.

KU isn’t keeping still. They have three more large projects planned to break ground over the coming months.

KU med is going to put up a building at State & Olathe of more than 300,000 square feet for researching, creating, and applying new radioactive medicines. Works out to about 8 floors above grade with below ground radioactive labs. Some sort of partnership with Children's Mercy. Sounded like this project, if successful, could become a national draw for specialized treatment. The medical school is going to soon start bulldozing 5 of their older buildings south of 39th.
The hospital is going to build a new tower that looked to be 25-50% larger than Cambridge A and slightly taller. So lets call that 700-800,000 square feet. I would describe the design as almost a continuation in a snake like way. It was mentioned that they have run out of beds and are turning away hundreds of patients per month. To support the new tower, they will build a new garage with I believe 3000 spaces. I imagine a garage of that scale could buy you a good chunk of streetcar expansion.
All of these projects will be under construction in the next 6-9 months and have staggered openings in 2028-2030.

How does Kansas City keep doing this? Are we really that broke here and where are they getting this money?
Pretty sure it's just gonna be a TIF, will probably try and utilize the new state TIF bill as well. The Current Stadium expansion is interesting and hopefully it attracts more events to support the expansion. It will look more complete once done, but it's good for what it is.
