^It's been known for a while that the young people that St. Louis needs to retain want Metrolink expanded and like to live in transit oriented cities. It seems like St. Louis leadership is doing everything in its power to not make that a reality.

This popped up on my feed at random. Apparently Iowa is apparently subsidizing a new Greyhound bus between Des Moines and St. Louis. Pretty cool, I'm a big fan of inter-city busses.

Des Moines ? If one can connect  Greyhound  via 80 to Chicago Then good for folks in that area of the county

Upcoming MoDOT meeting regarding the I-64 reconstruction project between Boyle and Compton https://www.modot.org/node/87018  Sounds like it will involve a year long closure of eastbound I-64.

34k+ at Busch tonight, higher than normal is visitors staying at hotels, only the Red Line is running. It's an embarrassment.

The fact that we can’t get back to 10 minute headways for each line anyways, but even when they close down vital stations and run the blue line only to Debaliviere when there are big events and they still only run 20 minute red line headways. You can literally just allocate the resources that you would be for running the normal blue line in order to run more redlines if it is truly necessary to do track maintenance at that time

Someone needs to be holding Metro accountable or they're going to continue not giving a f*** about providing quality service. Without pressure from local politicians and/or advocacy groups its not going to get better.

Gas prices are rising. So is public transit ridership.

Can't really argue against Guardian article after coming back from Japan and getting around Tokyo & Kyoto on JR/subway or going between cities on rail.  Even got a chance to take a few bullet train rides in as well.  Now I just need to do the high speed rail under the channel between Britain and France.    Japan rail was super convenient and was very affordable but Bullet Train definitely had a premium price to it.  Which makes sense.  Even crazier was that a tour guide pointed out construction of their new 500 km/hr maglev as we drove by on the freeway..

I did notice that EVs seem limited use in Japan which seemed odd for a country that imports pretty much all of its fuel is not striving to eletrictify even more of its transportation or is not adding a lot more renewables (island county with probably huge offshore wind capacity).  Simply did not see a EV delivery vans as you would see a Amazon EV delivery van..  However, with rail being electrified w so many using it is still impressive and really at end of day is what passenger rail in America will need to happen to be successful.

I also wonder where Europe will be in next 5 years with EVs, autos and trucks, considering how much has been invested in renewables and the hit with high fuel prices.   EVs also offer Europe the opportunity to store huge amount of renewable energy if they can start getting autos, delivery and tracks on batteries.

So much general revenue subsidy

Missouri’s fiscal 2024 budget from the General Assembly provided $20 million in general revenue for the I-44 environmental study from the Oklahoma state line to Route 100 in Franklin County, which was completed in May 2025. The fiscal 2025 General Assembly provided $577.5 million in general revenue for corridor improvements along I-44. The Forward 44: Southwest I-44 Improvements Project includes $328 million of general revenue and $143 million of STIP funds.

S Compton to be closed this summer through Marquette park as part of an "Open Streets pilot program"


I know its not the same, controled access blah blah but I'd recently been daydreaming about them closing the parkway between Kingshighway and Debaliviere on Sundays. Just to give the park a break from some road noise and exhaust, we all get enough from I-64.
