KMOV: Developer unveils renderings of proposed $3 billion Midtown data center project

The video's about 5 minutes long. New renderings show a hotel and apartment building on the site of the Armory parking lot. Developer also talked about working with SLU on potential developments on Choteau at Grand.

Completely agree. Look, I'd fully support this project if:

1) City requires the good parts of the development (office, hotel, apartments) to be built in unison or before rhe data center. I'd even be okay with tax breaks for this side of the development.

2) City/developer subsidizes a new location for Goodwill within the city and accessible from MetroLink.

If they are serious about what they are promising, they'd agree immediately and we could all celebrate a big win for the city. If not, then this whole thing has been a bait and switch.

My major problem with this development is they probably won't require them to debelop that part simultaneously. This will be part of a "phased" development. See the Riverfront Casino.
Well that's what STLAPTS is saying. The city should be mandating it all be built at the same time, or as I said, make them built the good part first. If $400M in 10 years is real, then it shouldn't be an issue to build the good stuff first. Ofc they wouldn't agree to this because none of their promises are real.

Who in office should we be lobbying? Because of course I agree with this.

If they actually ever build the apartment and hotel components I will happily eat my shoe

Those renderings are all AI generated. They need to hire an actual architect and submit development plans for all components if they want me to believe they want to do all those components. I agree that requiring everything be done at once should be the case.
