I like that club sports idea. Might be about a perfect size for that. Could be a great site for high school tournaments, too. And yeah, Way of the Arch is probably right about the office competition. Besides, I think new build would make better office space anyway.

The city proper needs an indoor pickleball facility. Just throwing that out there...

I always thought it would have made the coolest Blues practice facility.

Hell, any youth ice in the city would be great.  Not really a profitable enterprise it seems but as a community asset, a huge one.  Doubt it's large enough for two sheets though which makes tournaments challenging.

A new music venue would be an obvious one, too.

Three words. Salt Shed Chicago. 

I think the Pickleball wave has already crested. It will continue to be popular, but the days of rapid expansion are over.

Land Clearance and Redevelopment Authority approved the Community Benefits Agreement for the Armory data center.

The project is now pinned at $3.09 billion, with $1.05 billion for the construction of the data center, $2 billion for its outfitting, and $40 million for the Armory renovation. No tenant has been identified yet, however.

They reiterated the potential for development on the surface parking lot across from the Armory and said that they are in talks with SLU about developing a vacant piece of land at Grand and Chouteau.

The tax benefit also suddenly got a lot cheaper, only $345M in its first 10 years despite the previous number preached being north of $400M.

The CBA includes $15.75M in payments to the city that will be used for infrastructure, the city's digital access plan, and addressing any unforseen affects of the data center. The building permit will also not be issued until $2.5 million in outstanding property taxes are paid.

I support the Armory data center, but it seems fishy to give them the go-ahead without naming the tenant. 

Or paying the give or take $3 million tax bill

The way they were drafted was embarrassingly unprofessional and I think a few could be legally unenforceable. Kudos to the professional City staff that did their best to keep the meeting on-track. 

Data center public meetings are frequently chaotic but most of this 12 hour meeting was completely avoidable. I hope someone with power to elevate standards took note. 

Developer sues to block a few of the BPS added requirements. I won’t rehash my procedural disappointments from that meeting but the court action seems… expected? Not sure if that’s the correct word.

I hope so with how much special interests spent on this government.
