Reviewing the media regarding Rams settlement a bit more. The mention of poor first impressions as a reason to fund the dock got my attention. Far more people enter St. Louis at Gateway Transportation Center than the river boats and yet the City has been fine with that terrible first impression. City needs to buy the USPS lot and have the Treasurer and SLDC lead a private-public partnership. At a minimum a public garage would do wonders but ideally a hotel + garage + roadway and way finding improvements. Even better if we can fund internal and external cosmetic improvements. 

^This is a good point. Also bring in a better coffee shop than that dingy one.

In the Colliers Q1 STL office report on April 13, they say Lewis Rice has already renewed their lease for 107,800 square feet.

I’ve lived at park pacific since 2019, and it’s never been as full as today.  It’s usually 80-85% and now it’s at 92% and they’re expecting 100% by end of summer.  I was at the gym yesterday and 4 tours came through in the hour I was there.

I'm not sure "enjoyed" is the word, but great piece of local reporting. Like an old RFT story.  
Related to this, I increasingly believe just having the STLPD enforce traffic laws would go a long way to improving quality of life in the city. Tow tow tow, as well.

I again just cannot even begin to imagine how unaware or uncaring of the actual problems we face in this city, the suffering and struggle of residents, people who still are homeless from last years tornado, to be worried about cars parked in a parking garage. These cars harm no one, no one cares about them, they aren't on a residential street, we know this garage doesn't fill up everyday, they are only used as a political football for meaningless points. Meanwhile people are actually, in real life, dying on our streets.

You'd also notice a certain member of this forum magically stop caring about these abandoned cars after the election cycle ended. Funny how that works.

I don't know, man.  I just want a city government/administration that can provide table-stakes services for the tax $$ I provide. At the same time, I want transparency on where/how my tax $ is being spent. (I don't want city governments overly concerned with stuff like Gaza. And, I think things like homelessness are just insolvable by the most city govs/admins. The problem is just too large. As Denis has pointed out on twitter a lot, STL city has gobs of covid $$ just sitting there unspent because they don't know how to spend it.) So, for me, this story speaks to potential city corruption and the dearth of table-stakes services. So much shady bullsh*t happens with the city government (hell, all local/regional/state/fed governments) so I appreciate stories like this.

How does allowing abandoned cars to sit in city-owned garages indicate corruption? They're allowed to sit there because they're out of sight and out of mind, not actually affecting anyone or anything. It would be one thing if they were in a residential neighborhood or parked on the street, but they aren't, and this garage, like most downtown garages, does not fill up. This is just looking for things to complain about, and in this case, a thing that literally does not have an impact on the lives of anyone.

Homelessness caused by the tornado is absolutely a city issue and there's nothing stopping the city from spending ARPA funds on home repair, like they've previously done.

Yes, my abandoned vehicle posts were all part of my grand scheme to make Tishaura lose. The funny thing is, I've never posted a single thing about Tishaura, Cara, or the election on this forum or elsewhere. I don't live in the city (I only work here, pay income tax, and support all of the neighborhood businesses), so I'm disqualified from commenting on anything city-related, remember? I did however tag Cara in my Twitter post as this was in her ward.  She never did anything. I guess you can count that as a win.

Unfortunately, the city has a very long and very sordid history of corruption (and outright theft) in the towing department so anything involving the towing department and its lots leads one to consider corruption and other BS. sad reality.

(tertiary point - I'm not sure the city should even own parking garages. sell them all, streamline the Treasury Dept, etc.)

Just wanted to point out that the article linked above talks about more than just those cars in that garage.

I believe the legislative session ends Friday if I'm not mistaken. Is the bill looking like it is going to pass or should we revisit next week?

It went for a final vote last Thursday and it was put on informal calendar (basically means we’ll take it up later) to allow negotiations over the weekend because a KC senator wants another bill that gives burns and McDonnell tax breaks for its new HQ in KC rolled into 3231 but others don’t want that rolled into this bill.   Should be on floor this week
