I have seen some other forumers play around with AI in various posts but thought it would be nice to have a single repository for those interested (as well as a thread to ignore for those turned off by AI products).

Here's some that I have toyed around with -- this first post focuses on South Broadway in and near downtown.

A Broadway Blues Corridor (the block of S. Broadway between Gratiot and Cerre, containing Broadway Oyster Bar). Think a St. Louis version of Beale Street--neon-clad entertainment district near Busch stadium. AI went a little crazy on the Beale-ization process but it still is an interesting thought experiment.

And because it's in the same vicinity, here is a more invested/urban vision for South Broadway just south of Chouteau and north of the I-44/55 overpass:

And a cheesy but fun year-round Mardi Gras themed underpass park/parklet just south of the site above:

All images were generated using Google's Nano Banana 2.

A Chouteau's Pond concept that AI took in a different direction than I was expecting based on my prompts:

Forest Park and Grand intersection--

The AI did surprisingly well considering I fed it a very poor quality Google Earth 3D screen cap -- its approximation of the saucer building with no definition is forgiveable under those circumstances lol. And weirdly it cropped the image without permission too, but still a fun before-and-after imo.

It also added a train line without my asking for it, so pour one out for the Metrolink Green Line there.

Fire renderings as always.  The Mardi Gras underpass & Blues Corridor would be amazing, its incredible what some neon can do 🤘

Land reclamation in Lafayette Square at Lafayette just east of the I-44 west ramp (at Truman Parkway facing west on Lafayette Avenue):

Google AI must have thought Lafayette Avenue needed a road diet because it halved it.

A reimagination of the Southtown shopping center at Kingshighway and Chippewa:

Southtown.png (2.76MiB)

This first stab was great, but I didn't understand why it put the higher density uses on the non-Kingshighway frontage.

In the second try, I told it to shift the density, but then I realized it was not aware what was behind the shopping center so it just added a street with historic-looking housing on the eastern end:

"Crowntown" is a reference to the Garcias' attempt to rebrand the larger South Kingshighway corridor as the Crown District.

Gravois/Jefferson/Sidney intersection with an AI attempt at a traffic circle and some infill:

I practically begged the AI to replace the old 7-11/check cashing place and the Lee's with more urban buildings but it refused to cooperate.

So, this is kind of crazy timing but @Ragtimer & I were just about to post our map that illustrated (literally) ideas from the forum that we thought would be useful for reviving downtown, using AI imaging to do so.  Very open to any suggestions, additions etc if anyone has any.  Big shout out to you, db, & the "Design Downtown STL" team. Your Neighborhood Plan was an invaluable resource, thanks to @addxb2 for letting us include two of their concepts/images, & to everyone else on this forum who has brought forth new ideas, new passions & new visions for their city.

St.Louis would easily be a top tier city with those images. I’d love to see some of how it would reimagine parts of old north & north St.Louis either way thanks for sharing….

Mods, do we have the ability to pin something? I hate for the good work to get too deep
