So what's your solution Auggie?
Actually arrest people? All they've done so far is disperse the meet ups and then posting it on Facebook for people to slap their fins together because "something's being done" even when it's not. They didn't impound any cars and the only guy they arrested turned himself in after the fact. Quite literally all that's being done is moving the problem around.
So my idea would be for the city and circuit attorney's office to create a diversion program to give a pathway for these people to become contributing members of society. Because despite your apparent ignorance, these people are generally low income and poorly socialized. This way, the police are able to make arrests which would lead to an immediate decrease in these events and the diversion program would result in at least some of these people becoming positive members of society.
I can't guarantee that this would for sure work, but I can guarantee it would work better than breaking up the groups every few weeks and then post about it on Facebook to make certain types of people feel better even though nothing has actually changed.
I think labeling this crowd as “low income and poorly socialized” is only a benefit to them. Many (maybe most) of the participants have full-time jobs, make decent money, live in the suburbs. Outside of this they would be unassuming guys (douche bags) behind you at the grocery store.
The only thing that works against this type of guy is enforcement. Either jail, big fines, or damage to vehicle. No mercy. They know better.

damage to vehicle
They need to also start hitting them with paintball markers using hiviz permanent paint like other countries do so they can spot them easier later.

I really like this idea, the more damage that can be done to those car in addition to flat tires the better. It would also help to spot the car laterchris fuller wrote: ↑Jun 09, 2025damage to vehicle

I like that idea too. Seems easier to do that then do the detective work later asking which vehicles have come into shops with spike damage.

Overnight:
Three shot, one dead just north of downtown in Columbus Square.
Shots fired 1500 block of Washington resulting in someone getting ran over and killed by car, homicide detectives called in.
However, it was indeed nice to see a peaceful protest and I'm not being snarky.

Something isn't adding up about this story, what on earth was 16 year old boy from Springfield doing outside Ely Walker at 1 in the morning?Auggie wrote: ↑Jun 16, 2025https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/cri ... r_stltoday

Yes, I read the article. His presence there still makes zero sense.Auggie wrote: ↑Jun 18, 2025Party at a short term rental, dispute outside the building, hit by car.Ebsy wrote: ↑Jun 18, 2025Something isn't adding up about this story, what on earth was 16 year old boy from Springfield doing outside Ely Walker at 1 in the morning?Auggie wrote: ↑Jun 16, 2025https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/cri ... r_stltoday

C’mon Auggie you know if a tragedy involves black people it must have some nefarious element causing it all. It can’t just be kids being kids - that kind of hand washing rhetoric is reserved for white teenagers.

He was from Springfield MO, here for the protest and was not at the party or involved in it, simply just walking down washington ave when the chaos started from the party
Doesn't really change my point. He was a 16 year old out in the middle of the night when he shouldn't have been. It's not unusual for 15-17 year olds to be out when they shouldn't be. That's really all I'm saying. At the party or not, he had no business walking down the street at that hour- but we see it all the time.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jun 18, 2025He was from Springfield MO, here for the protest and was not at the party or involved in it, simply just walking down washington ave when the chaos started from the party
Just to be clear, 14 year old visitor and 16 year old resident were both murdered in or near downtown in one night. Both random. The fact that they were awake and out past 9PM doesnt mean they were irresponsible or deserving of trouble. One was with an adult. One just left his mother 10 minutes earlier.
The root causes are simple in both. Guns, cars, short term rentals, and people interested in abusing all or some of those three things.

I was responding to someone who was saying "something doesn't add up". I was just saying that everything does add up and that it's not abnormal for kids who shouldn't be out to be out.addxb2 wrote: ↑Jun 18, 2025Just to be clear, 14 year old visitor and 16 year old resident were both murdered in or near downtown in one night. Follow up on the shooting by the PD. Seems to be that I was correct that we have not gotten the full story here.

You must've linked the wrong article because what you linked was juts a typical bullsh*t STL P-D doing its best to keep fear levels high so they can keep getting readers to make money.
I will say both Parsons and Kehoe were fairly levelheaded when it comes time to appoint. Parsons with CAO and Kehoe with today’s announcement.
From what I've seen so far, none of these people have a background in law enforcement or criminal justice and it's a joke to call them "police commissioners". Pretty awful picks.
