Can you share the numbers 2014 to 2019?

Here's a roundup of multiple fights, shots fired and arrests at Pride adjacent event in the Grove.

I know I said this in another thread, sorry to repeat it.  The news has it wrong, and it twists the narrative.  There was no pride sanctioned event in the grove this last weekend.  The event was downtown.  Beyond that, the queer businesses, like they do every weekend, draw crowds that normally have no issues.  It was the "others" that brought themselves there looking to piggyback on a popular weekend / hot spot and created the issues.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that state takeover at a minimum has emboldened SLMPDs communications. First the Pride stunt and now this strong arm firework approach.

Who are these “others?”

The same “others” that have no value for life and have systematically destroyed STL’s reputation nationwide? I travel a lot for business and our reputation is no bueno!!!

The same ones who were downtown last year on the 4th creating a scene.  The ones who get on social media and make plans to have a massive get together wherever there is already a crowd drawn.

Personal fireworks are a scourge in both STL City and County around every July 4  and I'm glad to see police addressing it.

Much like license plate tags, I don’t need our police prioritizing fireworks. It’s not a big deal.

Wait till you see what gets shot in the air instead of fireworks.

Not diminishing our improvements: but it's happening elsewhere.

Isn't it funny how it's always the local gov's fault when crime goes the wrong way but the usual types will go to the ends of the earth to find alternative reasons when crime goes the right way?

Just so fascinating.

I don't think they should prioritize fireworks enforcement. But ignoring sends the message that St. Louis is anything goes when it comes to dumb behavior like that.

And ask the owners of Macklond Deli if fireworks are "no big deal"

That’s a one off situation and I have no problem with the police going after arsonists, accidental or not.

Whether it be tags or fireworks, you say you don’t want police to prioritize it, but understand these instances your celebrating mean they had pull their attention away from more meaningful work.

I think fireworks burning down a place often gets treated like a distracted driver hitting and killing somebody. They didn't mean for it to happen so they get a slap on the wrist

I would say it's a little different because a lot of times it's impossible to find out who shot off the exact firework that burned whatever down.

Fireworks and urban settings simply do not go together.

If you wanna do that go out to the sticks. And if you choose to do it in the city we won't look the other way anymore.

This nightclub recently reopened after another shooting. Didn’t St. Louis just have multiple people shot outside a night club? Including a child. This could be St. Louis tonight, this weekend, next month.

St. Louis is Chicago.

Sad that society puts up with this madness just so rednecks can have a hobby other than meth and small group.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with this, but only that its happening at a steeper and longer scale... which is good and we should still be celebrating it! (PS: I haven't updated this so some of the totals might be off 1-2 that were moved to a different year)

I mean not really. I can't remember any shooting in STL where a car of gunmen opened fire into a large crowd at an event in what is effectively a terrorist attack.
