Unfortunately, if someone else is qualified and waiting, you better aim for perfect or be good at messaging. Obviously Jones isn’t either of those.

Same is true in expectations of corporate America.

I don't believe Jones recent actions show that she deserves four more years as Mayor.

Call "fallacy" all you want but an election is a job interview.

Well who wouldn’t prefer perfect over improved?

DB, you are right, but I think part of the problem is that the improvements since 2021 is off of an artificially low base point due to COVID. The rate of change looks good on paper but we still aren’t that close to meeting the standards people are expecting.

On type of that, Tishaura doesn’t message her approach to city services in the right way at all. It doesn’t come off as a priority for her and that matters when we still have a lot of room to improve.
Can't help but point out that letting perfect be the enemy of good is a fallacy. You people are too funny.

I think there are a lot of other things that are a priority over some of Jone’s personality shortcomings. That’s ultimately what you have to weigh your decision on.

I talked about city services part a few pages back here, trash/911/ etc are all better today then May 2021 when she got into office but voters here and nationally have memory holed Covid and it’s impacts and have completely different expectations.
Here, we prefer perfect over improved. So it's not good enough.

I experienced better city services before Jones than I did today.  I think that is the experience of alot of voters.  It's not memory holed covid whatever that is.

I did too. 911 is slightly better than it was a year ago. But below where it was 4 years ago.

Trash is definitely worse.

911 is far better today then 2021, 2020 or 2019 and as is trash.    notice you havent heard much about it lately, because its back to normal picking up 42 to 44 of 44 routes each day.

When you have to tell people services are better maybe they aren't necessarily better

Just a thought.

Because most people don’t generally use city services, I haven’t called 911 in at least 7 years.

My mom has never had trash pick up issues in STL hills, minus the snowstorm but she’s a rationale person and not a dumbass, so she can distinguish between one time storm related event vs day to day. Large share of city residents don’t even have city picked up trash because they live in buildings either 6 or more units

As someone who's never once called 911 - I very much rely on other people telling me if these services have improved.

I've had windows smashed out of vehicle three times, packages stolen and a guy with a gun chased by cops and arrested in backyard and I have never called 911.

And I'm forgetting a few things but I don't blame whoever the current mayor is, they don't know ***** all about street level sh*t. The mayor doesn't know my meticulous recycling goes to the dump.

Also, "unreported crime" is not a thing and "crime stats" are accurate.

Unreported crime is a thing in 2025, 2015 , 2005, especially 1995 and 1985 and years before that without cameras on each street corner, predictive AI tech, shotspotter, cell phones but one constant across those years is idiots.

In Soulard the trash pickup issues have been minimal. But Gravois Park has been another story. As to 911 I last called it in 2022 and had few issues compared to what I was heating at the time.

In the end if you're telling voters their issues have been solved when they don't feel they have ...well...that's not a good spot to be in.

I must be hallucinating the overstuffed dumpsters that have not been emptied in several weeks behind my apartment on the 6300 block of Sutherland.

Did anyone else see the St. Louis American's endorsement of Jones? At least to me it felt extremely phoned in, barely even mentioned the mayor other than pointing out she is from North City to contrast with Spencer being from South City. The longest section discussed how City services are not being delivered properly, so even some in the Mayor's camp are not sticking to their talking points. The did manage to accuse Spencer's supporters of being racists so they stayed on message there.

^Gee it sounds like The St. Louis American is basing their endorsement of Jones on "feeling" over "fact".

I await Auggies take down of them for doing so.
