Honest question. Would you bring yourself to vote for Cara Spencer if Tishaura isn't in the race? Abstain? Vote Butler?Auggie wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025All this election affirms is that we live in a post-fact world, which we already knew.
I look forward to Spencer taking credit for Jones' accomplishments. I'll be here to remind everyone of reality.

The reality is chances of St. Louis getting a new mayor are high.

In 2021, I preferred Spencer over Jones but I actually thought all 4 were bad options.addxb2 wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025Honest question. Absolutely would not support Spencer after the campaign she just ran + donations she proudly took. I went over her entire campaign website platform a couple days ago. It's filled with things that are already happening, no specifics, and when there are specifics (like with regards to services), her solution is giving public money to the exact companies taking away city workers.
Even Andrew Jones had better language to describe MetroLink expansion than Spencer did. That's just a joke.
These results can only be interpreted in one way and it is that Spencer is going to stroll to victory in the runoff. Butler and Jones are battling it out for also ran which is extremely embarrassing for the Mayor.addxb2 wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025We are in a very feasible reality where Michael Butler is the next Mayor of St. Louis.
What's embarrassing is being on the same side as Jane Deuker and Bob Clark.Ebsy wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025These results can only be interpreted in one way and it is that Spencer is going to stroll to victory in the runoff. Final results, Spencer (68%) and Jones (33%) advance to the runoff. Those of us who wondered where the support for Jones was have our suspicions confirmed!
Barringer (47%) edging out Green (46%) is the actual big surprise. This will be the race to watch next month.

17.78% turn out (34,500 voter) is even below my very low turnout of 38,000 predictions. Only thing Jones has going for her is that Spencer has probably maxed out her vote, so jones has 4 weeks to juice her turnout, is it possible? Probably not
We'll be able to get a pretty good idea when the ward breakdowns are posted but I would hazard to guess significantly whiter than the City's total electorate.whitherSTL wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025Curious as to the voter demos…
The victory here is that St. Louis has two exceptionally qualified women excited to lead and passionate about their City. They're not grifters. They're not big talkers. I fully trust both of them to make good decisions overall.

^I 100% agree. I would have been fine with Mike Butler to advance as well.
The only one of the four I'd never ever cast a vote for is Andrew Jones.
Though I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to not vote for him for Congress or mayor many times in the future.

Ratio of 1.39 votes of approval per voter. Compared to 1.56 votes of approver per voter in 2021. This electorate was more confident.
Cara Spencer: 46.35% -> 68.13% (+21.78)
Tishaura Jones: 56.96% -> 33.17% (-23.79)
Andrew Jones: 14.42% -> 13.63% (-0.79)
Reed / Butler: 38.56% -> 24.86% (-13.7)
Moral of the story, Cara Spencer cleaned up.

I still think it's funny that the forum member that screams "post fact world" is the first to dismiss anyone else's opinion with over the top dismissiveness, derision, and incredulity.
Total lack of self awareness is next level.
A wise man once said "I don't know why I am the way that I am, but I know the way that I am." It helps.

Now his only purpose will be to highlight every Spencer misstep. This will be nauseating.
The 2017 and 2021 threads have 25 and 18 pages, 2025 41 and another month to go.
No one else provides arguments for their positions. I can't do anything about that. My purpose is to follow the facts and data. Spencer's job will be to provide good facts and good data for St. Louis. If she does that, I'll applaud her. If she doesn't, I'll call her out.whitherSTL wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025Now his only purpose will be to highlight every Spencer misstep. This will be nauseating.
It's super easy to base your views on facts and data because then you literally cannot be wrong. Unlike people who base their views on feelings.
What Jones has done is provide great facts and great data. The city is in a massive uptrend right now. We'll see where we are 4 years from now. I'll be where the facts and data point, that may be with Spencer and it may not.

Forgetting to tax legal pot sales. Forgetting to put Rams money in an interest-bearing account.
There are your facts, pal.

Those are handled by the City’s county offices, which are independently elected by the voters.whitherSTL wrote: ↑Mar 05, 2025Forgetting to tax legal pot sales. Forgetting to put Rams money in an interest-bearing account.
