Seems a desperate move. Cara Spencer isn’t a MAGAt
- 2,419
As much as I am skeptical about Cara Spencer being the right person for St. Louis going forward, I think she's got this election in the bag.
I hope she can deliver in big ways for St. Louis and prove me wrong.

Mostly likely scenario here is that either butler or Spencer camps set up this site as bait for Jones camp and they bit hardRockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Feb 28, 2025Jones’ campaign e-blasts fake website in attempt to link opponent to Trump

A Brighter Future PAC is funded by local businessman Louis Cella. He is a Trump supporter. There was discussion that he may be in position for a cabinet post.
So just because the website is fake, the attack has a factual basis and is indeed fair game.

That’s a ridiculous distortion of what’s actually played out here.JaneJacobsGhost wrote:A Brighter Future PAC is funded by local businessman Louis Cella. He is a Trump supporter. There was discussion that he may be in position for a cabinet post.

The Jones campaign should not have directed people to a bogus website that made factual claims about Spencer’s funding. I agree. Actual journalists like the PD should raise the question of Spencer’s funding but the PD is going to endorse Spencer.

If we are going to attempt to tie Spencer to MAGA based on the political leanings of some of donors, let’s have it both ways.JaneJacobsGhost wrote:The Jones campaign should not have directed people to a bogus website that made factual claims about Spencer’s funding. Jone’s list of donors isn’t squeaky clean either. I don’t hold that against Jones anymore than I do Spencer.

Look into these for starters:JaneJacobsGhost wrote:Who do you not like on Jones’ donor list?
Enterprise Holdings
Steven Miltenberger
Strategic Capitol Consulting
Missouri Growth PAC
What a silly waste of time and headache, for both candidates. Jones should hope the media let this story die.

The Taylor’s are heavily invested in the city. They employ people in the city. They actually have skin in the game.Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Feb 28, 2025Look into these for starters:JaneJacobsGhost wrote:Who do you not like on Jones’ donor list?

I don’t like Miktenberger either but that’s pretty small potatoes.
Whose money is behind the other PACs?

But like 80% of Enterprise Holdings political donations are to Republicans. Thats ok if they invest in the city?JaneJacobsGhost wrote:The Taylor’s are heavily invested in the city. Miltenberger donated $5K. I don’t know what the monetary cutoff is where it’s ok for you to brush aside, but that feels awfully ideologically convenient for you.
Those other two PACs are connected to former GOP House Leader Steve Tilley. Remember him? Those PACs have spent a lot of money propping up MAGA politicians.
Let’s be consistent here.
$5k is, in fact, smaller than $111kDebaliviere91 wrote: ↑Feb 28, 2025But like 80% of Enterprise Holdings political donations are to Republicans. Which is why I asked what is the $ cutoff for when it’s acceptable to take donations from bad people? Apparently it’s somewhere between $5K and $111K, which is ideologically convenient.Auggie wrote:$5k is, in fact, smaller than $111kDebaliviere91 wrote: ↑Feb 28, 2025But like 80% of Enterprise Holdings political donations are to Republicans. How about the $600k fundraiser that Clark held out at Clayco's offices in North County? Where the average attendee donated $3,000?Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Feb 28, 2025Which is why I asked what is the $ cutoff for when it’s acceptable to take donations from bad people? Gotta do some mental gymnastics to equate a billionaire who intentionally created bad news for the city for political gain to some dude that the average person has never heard of.
- 977
Mental gymnastics is an apt description of this conversation for sure. Both sides have accepted numerous donations from MAGA affiliated or otherwise seedy characters. If it’s “disqualifying” for Spencer as JJG put it, I ask that we call it both ways.Auggie wrote:How about the $600k fundraiser that Clark held out at Clayco's offices in North County? What amount of "MAGA money" is acceptable to take and what isn't?
Is that really the discussion we want to have days before the primary?
