I've seen exactly one home yard sign for Tishaura and none in front of any businesses. This wasn't the case 4 years ago when I thought it was pretty even between Jones and Spencer.

You can say that's simply anecdotal--not scientific--and you'd be right. But outside of the UrbanSTL forum where is the enthusiasm for four more years of Jones?

I've seen:
-3 "I Like Mike"
-1 Spencer
-0 Jones

And I'm in SW City. So there's your anecdotal evidence right back at you.

Yeah if signage is any indication of who is in the lead, it’s Mike.

^^^well then you haven't been in Soulard , Benton Park, or Cherokee Street adjacent nabes.

As JiveCity noted  there are definitely people who visibly supported Jones 4 years ago and are either quiet or are supporting Spencer this time around.

People can discount the storm response all they want but it was the last thing a campaign lacking enthusiasm (in the general city population outside of this forum) needed.

There's still a month til the first round and two until the general so of course things can change.

Seems Spencer has no issue with the donation.

There’s a big Spencer for mayor sign on a fence across from Forest park on skinker blvd. Says St.Louis deserves better anyways that’s the first sign I’ve seen of either.

There it is again...."BUT BOB CLARK!"  😂

Cara has been attacked like this over and over for her campaign contributors and direct or indirect affiliations  (Schoemehl in both alder races was a real lightning rod, among many others who she was vilified for receiving donations from), and neither time did that adversely affect her at all-- she won both races handily in a very progressive district against two challengers who were seemingly very popular with the progressives in her ward.  Yet, Cara won decisively both times.  Translation: No one cares.  So I guess...keep it up?

It's an easy distraction for her challengers to leach onto but no singular campaign donor will sink any candidates' campaign and it's disingenuous and demeaning to accuse Cara of being "bought and sold" when she has served with honesty and integrity throughout her elected career.  I know some of you disagree but if you were right about all the negative stuff that's been thrown out about her she would not even be taken seriously as a contender in this race.  Yet, here we are.

Another personal attack. Where's Matt In STL? Sleeping on the job? Enforcing the rules in a discriminatory way? Forum is literally just reddit.

Still waiting for a Spencer supporter to give a reasoned, empirical argument as for why Spencer will be a better mayor than Jones.

Auggie some people are guilty of taking the bait with you in terms of personal attacks. But honestly this wasn’t happening on this forum to the degree it is now until you showed up.

Auggie people have given you reasoned answers as to why they want to give Spencer a chance as Mayor.

I mentioned Spencer's sponsorship of the bill to impound the vehicles of reckless drivers. I think drivers blasting through lights, drag racing and "blocking the block" in our central business district hampers downtown development and tourism. If curtailing that behavior is not important to you fine. But it's an example of Spencer showing leadership that this mayor has lacked in my opinion.

I don't think Jones has been a disaster as Mayor and many on here might be surprised to see me defending her from the irratiinal haters on Nextdoor.

But I think we can do better. Jones has made some unforced errors that I think Spencer would avoid. I could be wrong betting on that. But you could be wrong betting on a second Jones term.

It's the insinuation that anyone who supports a challenger to this mayor must be motivated by race and the obsession with who someone voted for mayor 20 years ago that gets old.

People weren't trying to trash the city's best mayor in decades with literally no argument up until recently. Like I said, it's no better than reddit.

It's personally insulting to everyone when they act like it's so obvious that Spencer is head and shoulders better than Jones when they can't give an argument as for why.

^ It's a really close race, I think.

But Jones has time to recover from her storm leadership missteps and in the end I think she'll win in April (but by I smaller margin than 2021.)

This is what your not getting. You don’t have to be personally insulted when someone is voting differently than you.

Agreed. I think it ends up really close with low turnout.

I’m inclined to think Tishaura wins solely because incumbents rarely lose, but I’d be worried about turnout and continued population declines on the North Side. The percentage of black population is going to be a challenge for Tishaura moving forward as it falls below 40%.

Did I miss the Mayor’s opposition to such bill? Not seeing it reported anywhere.

Jones is definitely weathering a storm that’s not her doing but at the end I think she’ll pull it off & win I don’t really see many negatives with her & she’s not done bad though it wouldn’t shock me if Spencer wins. I honestly like both not sure how much different they are from each other
