Agree, adding a tower on the backlot would fill in a key spot on Clark. Best transit access in the city right there too. Clark is still very pieced together with the horrible ramps at 10th, lot next to tin roof, the city hall back lot and oh my oh my that horrible horrible ramp at 14th (really needs to be taken down).
Love the DB idea of giving it a facelift as a sports street. I think young people would find the area between Enterprise and Busch as a good place to live with a facelift and filling in the weird gaps with more residential.

I walked it with forestry and we counted 40 spots. It’s going to be $10,000 to get the trees, hire contractor to dig and install. It can be cheaper for smaller less mature trees but I want something bigger so that in 1-2 years it looks like it’s been there for a while. I don’t know if it can get done before FF since there is a specific season for the trees that forestry wants.

Do something that flowers, like cherry blossom, red buds or dogwoods. Will make for great impact in springtime. Great aerials too.

The volunteer redbud between my neighbor and I is happy as a clam with nothing at all. The one I planted in my front yard is a scrawny little thing several years in. Once there are some mature street trees I suspect you could get redbuds and dogwoods under them. More cherry trees might work fine, though. They don't seem to require as much shade.

I would second cherry blossoms. I actually saw St. Louis at the top of a list one time as one of the best places for people to see Cherry Blossoms, and I agree. Forest Park, Botanical Gardens and WashU have great collections. What about magnolias? Same as was recently planted in Forest Park along the walkway between the visitor's center and Pagoda Circle.

RFP for this is due Jan 8th. Based on tour list we may see one or 2 proposals or none. I don’t know why put this out in late October and didn’t do site visits until a week before thanksgiving. We’ll see what happens, but I would have waited until January to put out the rfp, especially since the Millennium hotel is also due in mid January

I agree that it doesn't matter, just get it done. Having said that I'm worried about hotels as we may have too many already.
