$16 after fees, good value when you're not just baking in the sun squinting at the field.

STL City SC is eyeing the State owned office building at 220 S Jefferson as reported by the Biz Journal:
https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news/2024/07/24/st-louis-city-mill-creek-office-building.html
Quote from team spokesperson makes it sound like use could be more fields and/or additional training buildings or maybe just hold for future development opportunities. I think this is good as that site has an awful lot of parking.

would like to see a major redevelopment of the whole block including the courtyard hotel, and FBI building. (I would keep the MSD building).rheights wrote: ↑Jul 25, 2024STL City SC is eyeing the State owned office building at 220 S Jefferson as reported by the Biz Journal:

That said i would be against more fields. They have enough fields.
Agree. I was hoping for something much better. Them buying land just to put in parking garages and more fields doesn’t exactly sit well with meSTLEnginerd wrote: ↑Jul 25, 2024would like to see a major redevelopment of the whole block including the courtyard hotel, and FBI building. I'm not sure what more fields are going to do to help them achieve their stated goal of making the downtown neighborhoods more vibrant.

Could be an indoor field or a resident academy. But it’s definitely not going to be grass fields

What was supposed to be “the summer of soccer” in the US is proving to be stadiums with a lot of empty seats.

Looks likely that USA vs Canada will be the Gold Cup matchup at Energizer Park in St Louis this week.
Great news as it should be a sellout and draw a lot of attention to Energizer Park.

Guatemala beat Canada
US is probably 51/49% favorite vs costa rica

Oof I would’ve much rather seen Canada. Odds are more in the USA’s favor than 51%/49%, but it’s definitely far from a guarantee.dbInSouthCity wrote:0 for 1 so far

I’m not sure it will be a sellout. There are a ton of seats left and they aren’t cheap. East side upper deck looks maybe 1/3 soldDebaliviere91 wrote: ↑Jun 29, 2025Looks likely that USA vs Canada will be the Gold Cup matchup at Energizer Park in St Louis this week.

It definitely won’t be now that is Guatemala and not Canada.jshank83 wrote:I’m not sure it will be a sellout. There are a ton of seats left and they aren’t cheap. Well it’s almost sold out now. That was quick.Debaliviere91 wrote: ↑Jun 30, 2025It definitely won’t be now that is Guatemala and not Canada.jshank83 wrote:I’m not sure it will be a sellout. Incredible to see so many visitors downtown. I need to know what excuses local fans have for the lopsided showing from USA fans. A slightly undersold stadium had USA not been paired with a GUA. Not a strong statement to CONCAF in my opinion.

I took some photos of the aerial shots - city was looking good!

- A full house is a full house.
- Let's talk Sunday after we see the ratio at the US/Mexico game in Houston.
Curious, where did all the Guatemalan fans come from? Do we have a big population in town? Were they traveling from other large markets like Chicago and Dallas.
Made for a fun and festive atmosphere in Downtown West all day yesterday. They were out in force even at 9am.

I suspect some might have come down from Iowa and Nebraska. Large but quiet populations up there.TalkinDev wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2025Curious, where did all the Guatemalan fans come from? Do we have a big population in town? Were they traveling from other large markets like Chicago and Dallas.

The Sporting KC social media is salty at St. Louis for "allowing" the takeover. They claim it would never happen at their park way out in the suburbs.

I’m happy to see our neighbors could cheer on their former countries in StL. If you need to see ‘Murica shove it to the fans of tiny Central American country in some sort of nationalist show of force, you’re a total freaking loser and I hope you step on an upturned rake.dweebe wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2025The Sporting KC social media is salty at St. Louis for "allowing" the takeover. Friendly reminder of atrocities committed by the USA in Guatemala:
1. Knowingly supporting and supplying the Guatemalan government’s genocide of native Mayan people and other crimes against humanity throughout the 1980s. 162,000 people were killed.
2. The US government intentionally infected thousands of Guatemalans with syphillis, gonorrhea and chancroid in the 1940s without consent and without offering treatment. The US government then paid sex workers to intentionally transmit the diseases within their communities. We covered it up until 2005.
3. The CIA removed the democratically elected president of Guatemala in a coup d’etat in 1954 setting off now 8 consecutive decades of political unrest.
So if someone is mad that the Guatemalans weren’t subject to some Uncle Sam idiot screaming “USA! USA!” repeatedly, kindly go step on an upturned rake.
The simplest answer is that Guatemala knew they were going to play in this game 3 hours before the US did. The inflated secondary ticket prices make more sense for a local/regional Guatemalan fan who rarely gets to see their team live. US fans from the region can see them play nearby a couple times a year.addxb2 wrote: ↑Jul 03, 2025Incredible to see so many visitors downtown. I randomly caught the second half of the match. Nice event for St. Louis.
Interesting fact I did not know. At least 6 players on the Guatemalan team were actually born in the US.
