Bulrush announces closure, cites "hate politics" as reason for decamping.

"Uneasy promoting a state that is actively working to harm LGBTQ community..."

That’s a shame. I really liked Bulrush. I’m not sure I understand or believe his reasoning for closing though.

carefully commenting
Close your restaurant ? Does that not put persons out of a job? Why not employ persons that you feel/know are being discriminated against?

^I think the owner himself feels discriminated against and is tired of promoting a state whose AG is actively hating on him, right? Quite a lot of my friends are seriously considering moving out of Missouri for exactly that reason. It's starting to feel al lot like Germany in 1938 and nobody wants to be here in 1944. It's sad making, but I really don't blame him. We need to get Bailey out of office. He's an absolute menace to us all.

Comparisons to Nazi Germany are ridiculous. Huge overreaction with the comparison and with this restaurant but it's his business and he's free to do with it whatever he wants. I think he probably wanted to do something else and chose to cause some drama. There has never been more LGBTQ support from people, gov institutions, businesses, pop culture, parades and events. It's very much in-your-face.

Not saying you’re wrong or Rob is wrong. I love Rob and Bulrush. But everyone is throwing around these statements that the AG hates Rob and the LGBTQ community without actually pointing out what policies the AG has made. I actually want to learn and read about why Rob feels this way.

They're not "throwing around these statements," they're just reading the news, if you'd like to know more about the AG there's plenty of reporting out there on his actions and how he's (ab)using his office.

Yeah Bailey is a huge problem. Specifically to the LGBT community, he’s tried numerous times to restrict access to trans related healthcare.

I understand the concern from Rob, but I still don’t understand the strategy behind abruptly closing your restaurant as a response.

Can you link some of the reporting?

All I can find is the AG is stopping/trying to stop minors from doing transitional care. Is that the issue?

Yes, the AG is interfering in personal medical decisions and making it illegal for people to access care. It’s a disgusting abuse of power and enormous waste of state resources.

He also files lawsuits claiming it’s a religious liberty to discriminate against gay people.

Here's to hoping that Bulrush eventually reopens somewhere in the metro east.

And I agree that Bailey, along with Schmidt and Hawley before him, are harmful to this state. They'd rather fight culture wars with no legal basis than to do their actual jobs.

For the record, Bailey attempted to intervene via emergency order in ADULT transgender care, not just kids. Judge threw it out cus Bailey didn't have the authority. Status quo for MO AGs. File frivolous lawsuits, lose, complain about wokeness, and then become a U.S. Senator.

Yup that’s where thoughts typically reside. Very astute.

I love this whole "we'll leave STL city and move to Metro East" thing. You have got to be absolutely joking and I'm an Illinois apologist.

When one of the best high end eateries in our city closes citing the above issues where else would he post it?

McPherson/Euclid can't catch a break. It's an odd story, Pi's rise and fall, for years it was a smash hit before downsizing down to one and then finally 0 locations.

Wonder what's taking Rothschild so long to get Mission & Ranoush back up and running, it's rare that I pass by there (which I do frequently) and see movement on those restaurants through the window.

Pi had obviously been struggling a while. I actually liked going there. That leaves that whole building vacant. The restaurant next door has been shut down for a while too

It’s a little worrisome that our most desirable neighborhood is showing many signs of stall - there’s a lot of vacancies throughout Euclid

Feels like the area needs to finally get density on the two large abandoned lots on Lindell between Kings and Euclid and has to start pulling residents in on Olive, Washington and Delmar to eventually push into Fountain Park and Vandeventer

Otherwise the CWE vibrancy will continue to be confined to a few blocks around Lindell and Euclid. It has been our “jewel” for a while yet Kingshighway-Delmar intersection looks the way it does and no development has basically went past Olive/Washington

The positive is that it is better connected to Midtown, though still a little spotty. Need to push at Delmar though if this city is going to ever get momentum

I miss Llywelyn's dearly.

The Bridge at Delmar and Euclid is waiting for lower interest rates.
