I'm happy there will be basketball courts at TG and Forest Park. However, it's basically a high profile PR move by the City and not really about "access".

If it was about access then all the broken down hoops at playgrounds and schools across the City would be functional.

^ Neither project is being carried out by the city but the foundations that maintain each park.

After looking into it a little more, Tower Grove received a $250,000 grant from the Land and Water Conservation fund.  An additional $250,000 was needed in matching funds, I’m not sure where those came from.

Forest Park Forever is leading the project there.

Once you add up materials, equipment, labor, direct and indirect overhead, and contractor and subcontractor profit, you can hit $1 million pretty quickly.
Very accurate summary. As a designer that reviews bids the 1mil seems incredibly fair post pandemic inflation. SWT does good work for our parks so it’ll be done well to in terms of design quality.

No basketball courts at the cities highest profile parks has been a hot button issue the past few years. I'm glad they were able to take the feedback and act on it.

I think they will be pretty popular at both locations.

Thought this was going through Forest Park Forever.

I think $8-10/sqft was typical pre-pamdemic.  I know for our smaller projects we were pushing $18-20 across all bids and large commercial is closer to $15 these days so don't think that number is off base.
Let me know if you need a good referral.  We are still paying $8-$10 per ft.
Please DM.  Need lots of pathway done in next 3 years.

It's interesting to learn how many members of this forum purchase concrete as part of their jobs.
Anyone that owns a home or a rental property has talked to a concrete guy, and there are some bonified commercial people around here as well.

It's crazy that something called the "land and water conservation fund" paid for paving a park but I totally support this.

^ It would be nice to have a contractor referral thread. I assume most of the posters here own properties and there's always work needing to be done when you own a house.

I need concrete flatwork and decking bids, along with a tile guy right now.

^It's also popular for complaining and hand wringing but no one suggests you move your car crash thread.  I would likely trust this group more than the cacophony on next door in terms of referrals.

Round Lake (AKA Circular Pond) is being filled with water again as of yesterday. Seems like the work went really quick.

Agreed - imagining all of the folksy outdoor bands (Red Rocksy) that would be amazing to see at the Muny. 😌
