Yeah, I'm definitely impressed with their Downtown investment. It seems like their corporate leadership has gone all in for its Downtown neighborhoods. Nashville is still a significantly smaller market than St. Louis with a smaller corporate presence, so you could only imagine what our skyline would look like if we had strong civic leadership that gave a damn about the city. With that said, Downtown is all Nashville really has going for itself. The neighborhoods right outside of the city center look like Arnold, MO with more trailer parks and gas stations. What it does show is what a strong downtown can do for a region. I really wish St. Louis leaders got it, we could turn the region around in a decade if real investments were made. St. Louis is such a beautiful unique city, it makes me sick.dweebe wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2023I'm really torn about how Nashville has grown/exploded. In a number of ways I'm jealous to see what they've done in the last decade. I think the RX Building is the last really big one left. New buildings are really what changes people's perception of a cities downtown. I was driving through Nashville recently and it's amazing how large their skyline has gotten in the last 5 years or so. Nashville doesn't have a third of the historic stock we have. Their downtown is all new modern buildings, but the perception of it being a modern, progressive city is shown in it's skyline. With our mix of historic buildings, a new crop of modern high rises would make our skyline even better. That block sized historic warehouse with 300 apartments is only 10 stories here, in Nashville it translates to a 300-400 ft. tall skyscraper.RockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2023I'd be absolutely thrilled to see another new-build project in downtown. Hope this is actually happening.

I would expect BP2 way before anything is done at Millennium. The hotel group out of Singapore has no interest in selling it seems and have no problem paying the City $300,000 a year in property taxes like they have been every December since 2014DogtownBnR wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2023This will be a great project if it gets done. This will compliment the 909 rehab nicely. If we can get RX, Mike Shannon's and Millennium done, we'll be on our way. Then we can start talking about new construction, BP2, etc. I'd like to see our major corporations and developers band together to bring Downtown back!

^^ I was just thinking that when I passed Westport the other day; home to world HQ of WWT, Edward Jones ( nearby ) and other corporations. That is Just ONE small pocket. If only our region valued our Downtown. We have all the pieces here in the region.
Does the City have any recourse any legal recourse?dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2023I would expect BP2 way before anything is done at Millennium. Seems like once a property becomes this much of an eyesore, this much of a detriment, the City or State should be able to step in and force their hand. (Especially an international owner with no ties to the region)
Remember board rules; St. Louis not being a state capital IS NOT an excuse.goat314 wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2023Yeah, I'm definitely impressed with their Downtown investment. But getting back to the Moxy: it's nice to see them possibly coming here. I've only stayed at their Omaha location and it was just for one night.

This is apparently for sale, which might’ve resulted in ConstructionJournal picking it back up.

What the hell are they talking about? 1.2B on the riverfront??
- Ideal time to buy in St. Louis alongside several billion dollars of proposed investment including a $3B expansion of St. Louis Lambert International Airport and a $1.2B redevelopment of 140 acres of downtown riverfront encompassing Laclede’s Landing

Probably the Gateway South project since that number was tossed around before. Laclede's Landing has its own thing going on, but nothing like the $1.2 Billion of Gateway South.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Sep 12, 2023What the hell are they talking about? 1.2B on the riverfront??

I'm curious, what website published the information regarding The Moxy that you posted on Twitter? That would be really exciting for downtown?

On costar this is still under development - construction start in January 2026 with a completion of September 2027. It’s also still on Hawkeye Hotels portfolio on their website. Anyone know of any more details?

I stayed at the Moxy in Columbus in January. I loved it. Not like your typical hotel. Awesome decor and vibe. I hope this can get built here.

Is Moxy project completely dead? Was in Omaha, Louisville, and Chicago this past summer and noticed they all had one in their downtown. Solid looking high rise modern buildings. Would be much better than the sitting parking lot.

Downtown Springfield, MO has a Moxy as well.
I believe the downtown St. Louis Moxy project is dead.
