^ Nice. Old renderings actually showed panels on the south-facing roof.

In response to that ^

Lol'd a bit.  All these doofuses think we should be building structured parking for this.  I truly hope the residential component develops while everyone clutches their pearls over parking.  I would agree that the pedestrian bridge really would help with connectivity in the general area though.

It’s hard to see ever a ped bridge. It’s too costly to go over the top deck and no chance in hell you go in between decks for security and anti terrorism reasons

^Why wouldn't you go between the levels? Grand already does. Vandeventer essentially does. Any underpass or overpass anywhere does more or less the same. There are vast swathes of the accessible undersides of double decker highway downtown. How does everything become a security and terrorism thing? Is that a convenient excuse not to do things? No terrorist cares about a short stretch of elevated I-64 in St. Louis. This is absolutely bizarre reasoning, and you have to know that.

Ah, security and terrorism concerns, the reason for so, so many modern inconveniences that don't seem to be necessary in every other terrorism-affected first world country.

The total lack of luggage storage anywhere.

Taking your shoes off at the airport.

The ever-shrinking bag policies at sporting events.

Etc., etc., etc.

What a country!

It was so nice to dump my luggage in one of those pay lockers at the train station in Stockholm and Oslo during a layover.

At a guess? A combination of deterioration, property owner and driver complaints, and MODoT's shortsightedness. To be fair, it's hard to see past the muffler when your head is shoved into an exhaust pipe. Maybe someone will give SS MODoT the southside exhaust special and they'll see the light.

GRG plans have it by 2050 and they asked for more federal $ to study if it’s possible.

I live not far from this place and always take the Grand/Compton exits from I-64. Traffic around it was absolutely nuts this weekend.

I look forward to seeing the size of the parking garage(s) when the latest renderings of the apartments to be built on the current site of the parking lot are revealed.

A viable source has given me reason to believe a pedestrian overpass is on its way.

I went to the Future 64 event last night. While there, an official told me that a pedestrian overpass between the Foundry and the Armory was going to happen. The official said their organization was not the one that was going to build it, specifically at Spring Street where the old one used to be. Same time, it was understood by all parties involved with Future 64 that a pedestrian overpass was coming. All 4 renderings of the Future 64 project area - including the no-build "rendering" - featured the overpass as something that would exist regardless to what they decided to redevelop. Good times y'all.

The developer of Aventura at Forest Park built a pedestrian bridge crossing 64 to link to the BJC campus.  In turn, BJC master leased a large  portion of the apartments.  Terrorism concerns isn't preventing a pedestrian bridge.

Any indication of a time frame or whether this is a "definitely in our long term plans" vs "we're actively working on this right now" type of thing?

Nobody said that, over the top ped bridge is fine, MODOT doesn’t link under the deck ped bridges.

^ Except for that one they did before…

And if a pedestrian crossing between the decks is a “terrorism” threat then why aren’t the sidewalks on the Grand Boulevard overpass that runs between the decks closed off? Or, why doesn’t Grand Boulevard go over the upper deck in that case? I find it hard to believe cars and trucks are less of a threat than a human being.

You haven’t even told us why MoDot considers a between the deck pedestrian bridge to be a threat, just that they are.

I call bullsh*t.

Why would it be a terrorism threat and not other similar type crossing that provide similar access to the freeway ?
