It seems that Trivers was to be the architect on Carnegie's plan.

^Odd observation for the day: Railway Exchage has more than one third of the square footage of the Burj Khalifa. That and AT&T get you past three quarters of a Burj Khalifa. Add in Butler Brothers and you're there. How's that for some perspective? (The fact that we HAVE that much office space is itself telling.)

This was added...
"Trivers provided conceptual design for a proposed multi-family, mixed-use, adaptive reuse redevelopment that would include over 700 market-rate residential units; two levels of below grade parking; street-level commercial/retail spaces; rooftop pool and other tenant amenities distributed throughout the building; and a rooftop restaurant/bar."

Saw this posted just recently. The building's in really rough shape these days. No matter how many times they board up the entrances, it keeps getting broken into. Windows have been shot out, the skywalk is starting to fall apart... It's a real shame.

I was privy to overhear homeless chatting downtown that the objective of  many of those entering the building is  to strip it of its copper

Trespassers already broke the wood and got inside the Railway Exchange. Can’t make this up!

The Millenium has been able to keep their building secure all these years, is the Railway exchange completely unguarded? There was definitely a constant security presence a couple years ago.

Unlike Millennium's owner and previous owners of this building, the current owner of the Railway Exchange just does not care

Would the success ( I hope!) of the Jefferson Arms possibly encourage developers to take another look at the Railway Exchange Building? Is the owner holding the building back from getting redeveloped by other entities? In other words, would there be other interested entities?

I fear the big fire is coming, since trespassers keep entering the building. Seems like a matter of time. I think there needs to be some urgency from the City in getting this out of the owners hands via E. D. or other means. (if that is possible)

From my understanding, developers have been interested in this but have been unable to due to all of the liens on the property. Eminent domain attempts have also been unsuccessful, which is one of the reasons it was condemned last week.

Fox 2 has a report (01/18/23) with video showing persons with 'cart loads' of stuff being carted out of the building

So yeah, F that guy.  But to keep it in perspective, that building is massive.  Looters can do damage, but it would take truck loads to haul away all the copper in there.  I would assume on a reno a lot of that would get replaced anyway.  It's a problem but not that big a deal.

The warming fires going in there is another story.  That needs to stop ASAP.  That could bring the whole GD building down along with putting the one around it at serious risk.  Not ok.

It should be well advertised and enforced that persons found with warming fires inside structures of any kind will be arrested and charged in every way possible.

Do you really think that any homeless person going in this building to get warm, cares at all if they get arrested and put in a warm cell with a bed and food, they welcome that.

^ Homeless people don't want to get arrested, that's ludicrous. Many have been offered temporary shelter, but have turned it down.

it is also about copper
and ripping it out carting it out and selling it
Same thing this last year at this nondescript building at Grand at 40
There was  blatant removal of the copper from this building and nothing was done

Is the owner actually paying to remove the bridge? It seems like they were content to let it rot regardless of safety or structural collapse. The city had to condemn it just to get it boarded up. Could this be an indication that the building is back on their radar?

Its removal is probably necessary to demo the garage which i thought was condemned.  Possibly a precursor to that?
