Unlike Millennium's owner and previous owners of this building, the current owner of the Railway Exchange just does not careGoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Jan 18, 2023The Millenium has been able to keep their building secure all these years, is the Railway exchange completely unguarded? There was definitely a constant security presence a couple years ago.
From my understanding, developers have been interested in this but have been unable to due to all of the liens on the property. Eminent domain attempts have also been unsuccessful, which is one of the reasons it was condemned last week.DogtownBnR wrote: ↑Jan 18, 2023Would the success ( I hope!) of the Jefferson Arms possibly encourage developers to take another look at the Railway Exchange Building? Is the owner holding the building back from getting redeveloped by other entities? In other words, would there be other interested entities?
I fear the big fire is coming, since trespassers keep entering the building. Seems like a matter of time. I think there needs to be some urgency from the City in getting this out of the owners hands via E. D. or other means. (if that is possible)
Do you really think that any homeless person going in this building to get warm, cares at all if they get arrested and put in a warm cell with a bed and food, they welcome that.STLEnginerd wrote: ↑Jan 19, 2023So yeah, F that guy. But to keep it in perspective, that building is massive. Looters can do damage, but it would take truck loads to haul away all the copper in there. I would assume on a reno a lot of that would get replaced anyway. It's a problem but not that big a deal.
The warming fires going in there is another story. That needs to stop ASAP. That could bring the whole GD building down along with putting the one around it at serious risk. Not ok.
It should be well advertised and enforced that persons found with warming fires inside structures of any kind will be arrested and charged in every way possible.
