Other thing to note- you cannot compare this and last years crime data to years before because it’s changed- if I rob someone with a gun, and also punch them in the face that would have been reported as one crime in 2020 and before- the highest charging crime “armed robbery” but since 2021 it would be listed on these reports as armored robbery AND assault so the 2021 and 2022 reports have 57,000 total crimes but it’s probably like 30,000 crime instances
Another example: in 2019 I take your car at gun point, it’s reported as just armed robbery and not car theft

Not in the screen grab but it lists suspect/victim relationship as “strangers” so I’d guess it started as a bar fight?

My parents were getting 5 hours of sleep before starting another day of 3 jobs in a day as I was out ripping off Mercedes, jaguar and other fancy car emblems around Clayton and Ladue at 16 because we thought it was fun.

Thanks. Trying to understand why its so high--literally 46% of payroll, dwarfing all other "fringe" benefits. Seems it has something to do with prior State management and the switch to local control, but I suppose it could just be underfunding due to less-than-expected investment returns. Maybe the PRS actuarial report will offer an explanation or at least some clues... Either way, it seems "pay the police more" is a fine political slogan but a serious policy challenge absent increased revenues or a major reshuffling of city budget priorities...
