Other thing to note- you cannot compare this and last years crime data to years before because it’s changed- if I rob someone with a gun, and also punch them in the face that would have been reported as one crime in 2020 and before- the highest charging crime “armed robbery” but since 2021 it would be listed on these reports as armored robbery AND assault so the 2021 and 2022 reports have 57,000 total crimes but it’s probably like 30,000 crime instances
Another example: in 2019 I take your car at gun point, it’s reported as just armed robbery and not car theft
Since 2021 it’s reported as armed robbery and car theft.

So basically a car backfiring???

Not in the screen grab but it lists suspect/victim relationship as “strangers” so I’d guess it started as a bar fight?
Edit- may have been a car theft and suspect is the car owner

If we could go 6 days between every murder, we’d only have 60 in a year.quincunx wrote:Damn, we only made it six days.

Happy one week anniversary since bunch of old people stalked young people leaving NYE parties in downtown and called it a crime
Business Journal has an article stating that crime and a bad image are the main things holding St. Louis back.
Sorry, can't link the article right now.

Can’t wait to find out more about these 3 wonderful teenagers at 5:30am on a school day. Such awesome teenagers some of these parents are raising here in the metropolitan area.

My parents were getting 5 hours of sleep before starting another day of 3 jobs in a day as I was out ripping off Mercedes, jaguar and other fancy car emblems around Clayton and Ladue at 16 because we thought it was fun.

That’s great!
Did you ever shoot anyone?
Were you armed and ready to shoot anyone who confronted you while stealing the emblems? I think not.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 09, 2023My parents were getting 5 hours of sleep before starting another day of 3 jobs in a day as I was out ripping off Mercedes, jaguar and other fancy car emblems around Clayton and Ladue at 16 because we thought it was fun.

Presumably this happened a couple decades ago, when shooting people was illegal.STLinCHI wrote: ↑Jan 09, 2023Were you armed and ready to shoot anyone who confronted you while stealing the emblems? DB--a few weeks ago you posted something about SLMP pay relative to county/munis and noted the difference in pension contributions. Could you repost that or point me to the source? I'd like to share it with my MOGA rep. Thanks!dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 09, 2023My parents were getting 5 hours of sleep before starting another day of 3 jobs in a day as I was out ripping off Mercedes, jaguar and other fancy car emblems around Clayton and Ladue at 16 because we thought it was fun.

For 2021- City Employee costs- average city employee, average officer and average firefighter
$30,000 per year per office is the City cost
https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/d ... osts-3.pdf
Here is Clayton’s budget, police pension for 2021 was $591,000 for 55 officers or $10,000 per

Thanks. Trying to understand why its so high--literally 46% of payroll, dwarfing all other "fringe" benefits. Seems it has something to do with prior State management and the switch to local control, but I suppose it could just be underfunding due to less-than-expected investment returns. Maybe the PRS actuarial report will offer an explanation or at least some clues... Either way, it seems "pay the police more" is a fine political slogan but a serious policy challenge absent increased revenues or a major reshuffling of city budget priorities...
As I understood it Clayton police are actually some of the lower paid ones.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 10, 2023For 2021- City Employee costs- average city employee, average officer and average firefighter

the state still controls SLPMD pension, some have thought about suing the state for an unfunded mandate.SB in BH wrote: ↑Jan 10, 2023Thanks.
