They had Condor seasonally in summer to Frankfurt before covid. Hasn’t come back.matguy70 wrote: ↑Jun 03, 2022New Orleans does NOT have flights on Lufthansa.gone corporate wrote: ↑Jun 02, 2022@symphonicpoet Good ideas there. But, there isn't a direct train for STL-NOLA, right?
I do see that Lufthansa does have flights between FRA and MSY (NOLA)... which is nice.
@Bart Harley Jarvis As a Metropolitan Area, STL is bigger than Memphis and New Orleans. Also, when I'm thinking about blues music, I don't think of Minneapolis/St. Paul. With the loss of The Purple One (RIP), I'm not so sure we could see a Minnesota music draw for many Europeans. FYI Viking River Cruises does offer Mississippi River cruises from Minneapolis to New Orleans already, but not yet one dedicated as STL-NOLA. I think this could be an opportunity for them, with this new flight being the impetus for expanded offerings.

Does Viking have some kind of co-marketing agreement with Lufthansa? Otherwise maybe someone could set up a package through any cruise line operating on the river. Possibly even charter a boat for a specific itinerary. Thinking towards the moon here, mind, but if you're potentially going to invest in a new luxury tourist train why not.

Air Canada upgraded all flights to CRJ-900s from November on.
Would love for those to switch over to E175s like they are running one frequency for July/august. But at this point I won’t get too picky
Hopefully that holds and means the end of 50 seaters on that route.

My British coworkers are happy to see this flight return. They really liked the connection through Toronto rather than Chicago or Newark. I believe Toronto has US customs pre-clearance?

Correct. They go through customs there coming back instead of herecueball19826 wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2022My British coworkers are happy to see this flight return. They really liked the connection through Toronto rather than Chicago or Newark. I believe Toronto has US customs pre-clearance?

Can't help but think how the single terminal, single linear concourse with a single TSA security, single immigration, single customs location for all the flights both International and Domestic will be plus in the future..

A 30+'person delegation went on the first flight and I follow a lot of them on Twitter and none have tweeted since departing, did they all have to quarantine because the Mayor was at the pre flight event and tested positive later that evening?
First thing I thought when I was the mayor tested positive was… well I wonder who gets stuck over there. I’m pretty sure some were supposed to come back today. Others were going to be there a week or more.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2022A 30+'person delegation went on the first flight and I follow a lot of them on Twitter and none have tweeted since departing, did they all have to quarantine because the Mayor was at the pre flight event and tested positive later that evening?
Screenshots from a janky video I took of today’s departure. I do prefer the yellow of the old livery.
Also meant to say this on Wednesday. It sounds like they may NOT be sending cargo to Germany yet. If I understood right they need to get people trained up and get everything in place before it goes over there from here.
They might be just wanting people on this end to get the plane turned and going back to Germany in a timely fashion before they throw cargo into the mix.
I’m sure it will start eventually but I don’t think it has yet.

Thankfully, Germany doesn't require much in the way of quarantine unless you test positively yourself. I was with a couple coworkers there, one of whom tested positive. He was stuck for 10 days while the rest of us left.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2022A 30+'person delegation went on the first flight and I follow a lot of them on Twitter and none have tweeted since departing, did they all have to quarantine because the Mayor was at the pre flight event and tested positive later that evening?
Need them to update this one! Then I'll really be happy! https://www.flystl.com/flights-and-airl ... op-service

Saw these charts posted on another site. Nice to have come context on how we do for Canada numbers vs peer airports.
Explains why we have more flights than KC but not as many as Nashville.
Top 3 on the Montreal list have at least seasonal service to Montreal so we might not be too far behind.
2018 Numbers for STL
Outbound Passengers per day
All Canada 162.4
Toronto 63.5
Vancouver 25.5
Montreal 22.9
Calgary 14.7
Winnipeg 6.5
Edmonton 6.4
Ottawa 6.4

^For most people, it really isn’t that big of a deal. I just got back from London and I had to take one of those tests. The only inconvenience was the cost of it ($82) but when you’re spending thousands on a hotel and airline ticket, it’s nothing. But for some I can see how it would be a problem.

I went through a drive-thru testing at the airport at Heathrow last year, problem isnt the test, the problem is testing positive and having to figure out plans for 10 extra days. this a good idea but planes should require masks for now.
I forgot that part despite it hanging around in my head after getting the test. I do recall concern that if I did test positive, I’d have to dish out a few thousand to stay in London for 10 days.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jun 10, 2022I went through a drive-thru testing at the airport at Heathrow last year, problem isnt the test, the problem is testing positive and having to figure out plans for 10 extra days. this a good idea but planes should require masks for now.

There were mentions of 5 a week for Lufthansa by next spring and it would be helpful for Bosnians, right now the Wednesday flight gets to Frankfurt at 7:55am Thursday and idk why but it's the only day the direct to Sarajevo leaves at 8pm and not 9:55am like the rest of the week
