The percentage of people who are dying of COVID today despite taking every reasonable precaution to avoid contracting it (primarily getting vaxxed and boosted and exercising caution in social interactions including masking) is so infinitesimally small that I find myself having very few f**ks left to give for the morons who are at this point willfully Darwining themselves into early graves because "muh freedom!" The vast majority of people dying from COVID at this point fall into that group - the morons. And yes, if you are still willfully unvaxxed at this point for no reason other than some weird cultlike hatred for Joe Biden or whatever, then you are a moron, and nobody should feel sorry for you if you get COVID and die. You chose your fate.

I would have liked to see things still a little tightened, at least mask wise, until everyone has a chance to get vaccinated. I get under 5 years old doesn’t have a high risk but as the parent of an almost one year old we do take more still take more precautions than others I would assume.

But I get people are in a hurry to get back to normal.

Hopefully the doctor will still wear a mask.

Dec 16, 2021:

POTUS: “America faces a winter of severe illness and death.”

March 1, 2022 (still winter): innumerable blue cities and states ending all vaccine and mask mandates.

A fugging joke.

August 1, 2016 Obama claimed to be turning 55

August 1, 2021 Obama claimed to be turning 60

Well which one is it Obama? It can’t be both!

Winter?  You should go outside, it’s 70
Listen, I’ll give you the benefit of doubt and just assume that you’re stupid, so. Between Dec 16 and Feb 16 we had 150,000 deaths and 160,000 hospitalization at one point, largely the unvaccinated, very severe illness and death.

Today we have 22% of hospitalization we had at the 160,000 peak and just 8% of cases from the peak. Vaccination mandates did their job, we’re at 86% of adults with 2 doses and 45% boosted.

By meteorological definition, March 1 is the first day of spring.

It's a valid criticism! "There's a lull, let's go enjoy sucking face" is not how pandemics work. The Biden administration is now doing exactly what they did during the lull last fall which is the behavior that caused the winter wave! It's like we're repeatedly binge-drinking until we vomit, and then saying "oh I better take the opportunity to drink now between vomit sessions". We've done it during every lull so far and will continue to do it forever, presumably never learning anything.

Guaranteed that in a few months we'll have a new wave of Omicron 2 (because Omicron is the last variant you see) and the media will explain that nobody could have predicted it! It'll only stop when we stop testing for it, or so much of the population is on disability that we literally can't continue ignoring it.

That's the astronomical definition, based on the orientations of stellar bodies. The meteorological spring is based on climate patterns.

Had to drive a few miles today during the unseasonably warm weather. I can tell you right now the most active thread for Summer 2022 will be the Car Crash Thread.

But to stay to stay on topic, what are the odds that COVID ends one day before the State of the Union!?

Did you create some sort of bot reply when you have no response to my posts that will ask me if I'm moving to Italy?

Eventually, Europe yes. I prefer the lifestyle. Not necessarily Italy. COVID put things on hold. But COVID ended yesterday so we'll see how it goes.
