I was hoping for more height with this project, but I think this looks really fantastic.

The glass tower, which would sit on a raised plaza, is being designed by Chicago-based Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, with landscaping from Nashville-based Hodgson Douglas. SDL is acting as civil engineer, with legal work by Husch Blackwell and Lewis Rice.

Nice! Definitely think it compliments 100 and the Park Plaza without competing with either.pop_scientist wrote: ↑Sep 14, 2021In my opinion, something more cylindrical might play well on the corner...contrasting One Hundred's sharp angles.

This is exciting - let's hope they are fine with little to no incentives... but exciting look and definitely original for STL which I love for this spot!

Love it. And I think more renderings will help - the current view makes it look short, being next to 100, but this building is going to have some good massing / fit in nicely with the rest of the CWE skyline.

I wonder if the rooftop deck will be accessible to non-residents.

I don't see why it would be - unless there's a bar or restaurant they didn't announce.billikens_19 wrote: ↑Feb 22, 2022I wonder if the rooftop deck will be accessible to non-residents.

^yeah - since the rotating Millenium restaurant closed (forget the name)... where have STL couples been getting engaged? Seems like a prime spot for a rooftop restaurant, hah
Literally nothing original about this. It's terribly generic.....huge disappointment. They're building this in every city these days. It's an amalgamation of H&R Block in KC and 727 West Madison in Chicago...and then they threw in a couple of balcony levels. So uninspired. This is a premier, high-profile corner in the city. They had a real opportunity to do something with pizazz. Either by creating something that melds inspired elements from the Chase and One Hundred alike...or something that clearly deviates from the overall neighborhood aesthetic and makes a gorgeous statement, which would bring us on par with global cities. Not to mention, it could've been taller, at least at the 400' mark. To create a pleasing pyramid-like silhouette to the skyline. Nah...back to the drawing board for revision.
Thanks.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Feb 22, 2022^The glass tower, which would sit on a raised plaza, is being designed by Chicago-based Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, with landscaping from Nashville-based Hodgson Douglas. SDL is acting as civil engineer, with legal work by Husch Blackwell and Lewis Rice.
Here are two completed projects and one under construction that this developer and architect have teamed up on:
Albion Oak Park:

Albion Evanston:

Albion in The Gulch:

A single building isn’t going to bring us on par with global cities in terms of high rise architecture and overall I think this is fine.SRQ2STL wrote:Literally nothing original about this. ^ I'd prefer that to be downtown, next to the stadium to balance the taller towers to the north.

The next tallest building in St. Louis probably isn't getting built in the next ten years.
I'm happy with this, even if I was hoping for taller than One Hundred.
Having a round structure on that Kingshighway street wall is going to be most welcome.

the aesthetics are nice but the garage fronting Lindell is complete bullsh*t. something with a triangular shape and garage tucked behind (see the Gulch example above) is the only acceptable form for this corner. i hope it isn't approved like this.
So a parking lot at a key intersection that has sat empty for decades upon decades is getting a 30 story tower and the majority of this thread involves complaints?

Do I feel bad using this gif twice within the last two weeks? Not at all.

I think the expectations were probably a bit too high for this lot, we've been salivating over what could be for years.
I'm happy with the design, not a stunner but still a nice looking tower.
Now that this lot will apparently be built upon, where do you all think the next vertical development will be proposed in the CWE?

I've learned as a non-native that unrealistic expectations are a pretty standard metric around here.dweebe wrote: ↑Feb 22, 2022So a parking lot at a key intersection that has sat empty for decades upon decades is getting a 30 story tower and the majority of this thread involves complaints?

Is the design spectacular and jaw-dropping? No, but it's very nice and I love the fact they're going more cylindrical to counteract the 100's sharp angles and is a little recessed from the total streetwall on Kingshighway. I just want to know about how it addresses at the street-level, particularly the Lindell side since with this single rendering it looks blank, and that's a huge mistake.
Hopefully the lot at Euclid and Lindell. Also the lots behind 100.pdm_ad wrote:^ I think the expectations were probably a bit too high for this lot, we've been salivating over what could be for years.

Can probably move this to the CWE density thread or something like that but, let's start the speculation!pdm_ad wrote: ↑Feb 22, 2022Now that this lot will apparently be built upon, where do you all think the next vertical development will be proposed in the CWE?
Plenty of good lots in the immediate vicinity. I don't think we'll see something ever proposed on the red lots...too small when you take parking into consideration. But the block between Forest Park, Euclid, Lindell and West Pine could house multiple towers. I'd like to see the Lindell/Euclid corner see something bold next.
