I get the feeling that it's one of those things that will look nothing like the rendering when it's finished. 

I thought everyone was moving away from the violent crime, high housing costs, high taxes, covid, covid regs, etc, etc.

If Buffalo couldn't save the Larkin building, why would they save a grain elevator?

^Every city has a great architectural loss or two. Sometimes they galvanize you to preserve other buildings. Penn Station comes to mind as an obvious example. Locally didn't the loss of the San Luis Apartments really help to kick off this very forum? I'm not sure that particular grain elevator is my thing, but I do like old industrial buildings and I think they're worth saving at least part of the time. I can see where that could be an important part of a neighborhood. It is . . . absolutely mammoth. You cannot argue with the scope of the thing.

No, San Luis was 2009. The forum started in 2005, I think. At least I don't recall seeing posts from 2004.

What discount? Housing has never been more expensive.

All-cash offers WILL get a discount but Blackrock will NOT be taking a discount when they rent/sell. What Blackrock specifically is doing to the housing market is criminal (thanks to a cozy relationship with the US government).

Also don't forget, 70% of Americans do not have $1000 in savings.

I'm not looking to spin the news or have an argument.

Sure they are. They're not beholden to anyone but the shareholders, and the shareholders usually only get to vote by proxy. So the corruption is more protected and a lot harder to root out. Which means they're even more corrupt and prone to theft and general failure vis a vis society.

You might actually be right. That one got me worked up too. Can't recall when I started lurking around here, but I discovered the place a good bit before I was able to join. (I was living in Columbia at the time. Tried to join, but failed. Not sure if that was a mod decision or just a failure on my part and lack of persistence. But as a result I lurked for years before actually joining up when I moved back to St. Louis.)
