I'm not saying he shouldn't move, but why move so far when there's convenient high profile office space much closer to your daily commute? 600 Washington would be a fine spot. Or the MX. Or any number of other downtown buildings.

STL Biz Journal: Aspire Software, one of St. Louis' fastest-growing firms, to be acquired by high-profile tech startup
Chesterfield-based Aspire, which provides business management software to landscape contractors, has entered into an acquisition agreement with software firm ServiceTitan. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2012, ServiceTitan provides software for the home and commercial service industries. It announced its acquisition Wednesday simultaneously with news that it has closed $200 million in Series G financing that it says values the company at $9.5 billion. It will acquire Aspire from founders Kevin Kehoe and Mark Tipton and growth equity firm Mainsail Partners, which backed Aspire in 2019. Separately, Mainsail said it will use certain proceeds from the transaction to become an investor in ServiceTitan.

Both Kehoe and Tipton will remain with Aspire, a spokesman said.

Aspire Software, which has more than 100 employees, launched in 2014 and provides its software to landscaping, snow and ice removal, and construction firms. The company was named in 2020 by the Business Journal as one of the region's fastest-growing companies, with its nearly $8.3 million in 2019 revenue, up 122.89% from 2017.

Dave Peacock is leaving Schnucks for NY based Continental Grain. Peacock will remain in St. Louis and commute to NY. It can't be mere coincidence that a multinational grain company without an operation on the Ag Coast of America would tap a St. Louisan to lead its operations, can it?

Thanks for posting that. I didn't realize how big this company has become. 

From the article: 
  • Core & Main Inc said on Tuesday it was targeting a valuation of up to $7.5 billion in its initial public offering in the United States.
  • St. Louis, Missouri-headquartered Core & Main reported a 7% rise in net sales to $3.64 billion for the fiscal year ended Jan. 31.
If they achieve their expected pricing of the IPO, Core & Main should be jockeying with RGA, Olin, Stifel and Post for the 4th largest market cap in the region (after Emerson, Centene and Ameren). It will be solidly in the Fortune 1000 - somewhere around 650 or so.

A prepared meat manufacturer will locate a 110,000-square-foot facility, with 475 jobs, in the city of St. Louis, the state of Missouri said Tuesday.

Privately held Deli Star Corp., previously located in Fayetteville, Illinois, will begin construction this summer and then start production at the facility early next year, according to the state, which added that the move represents a capital investment of more than $99 million. The building will be located at 3049 Chouteau Ave., according to a release.

Great news. They make it sound like a new building but that warehouse has been there for a long time now.

I'm a little confused about the building as well - Even if Nies has moved, the other half of the building is Villa Lighting and doubt they're moving out.  Could be wrong of course.  Even so, it seems another building would be needed to accommodate ~500 workers.

^ 500 workers could be over multiple shifts.  Not likely all 500 will be in the building at the exact same time.

The company is renovating 104,080 square feet of space at the Villa Lighting Building at 3049 Chouteau Ave. Production is expected to begin in 2022. The new facility will produce Deli Star’s slow cooked meals, deli logs, protein salads, sauces and plant-based proteins. State officials said the move represents a $99 million investment.

The Chouteau plant will be 2 miles from Deli Star’s new Food Discovery Center at City Foundry STL, near Ikea on Forest Park Parkway in Midtown. The proximity will allow Deli Star to create new ideas at the Foundry and produce them at the Chouteau facility, officials said.

Core & Main, based in Maryland Heights, priced its initial public offering Thursday night at $20 a share, meaning the company will raise almost $698 million.  The offering was priced at the low end of the expected range. In a filing last week, Core & Main said it planned to sell 34.88 million shares for between $20 and $23 apiece.

The pricing gives Core & Main a market capitalization of $6.5 billion. Its shares will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CNM.

JLL in it's "St Louis Office Insight - Q2 2021" is reporting that Scale AI has signed a new lease for 43,000 sq ft at 8421 St John Industrial Ct.

I googled "Scale AI jobs St Louis" and several job postings appeared.

This appears to be a nice get for the St Louis metro area.

A vertical farming outfit, AeroFarms, from NJ is looking for real estate in the region to construct a 150,000 SF production facility. According to the article, an Ag Innovation Showcase event at the Danforth Center turned Aero on to the StL market. GreaterStL Inc. is closely involved and helping scout locations on both sides of the river. Hopefully, it'll be close to the river.

^That's one damn good looking project. Recognizing the region's growing and recognized strengths in river-based agriculture transport, it wouldn't surprise me to see a whole lot of these >100Ksq.ft. vertical farming outfits setting up shop around the region, manufacturing for export. I'd be looking especially at industrial parks coming up right alongside the major highways, i.e. I-255. I'd also love to see some of these come into the heart of the City. Down the line, perhaps the right public-private partnerships can come together where the City gives land and tax breaks for certain vertical farming operations, which are met with targeted hiring objectives and discounted long-term contracts for sourcing fresh veggies & fruits for City schools.

Agreed and the potential tie in to COV transport is perfect. Iirc, about 15% of the containers on Patriot vessels should be refrigeration equipped.
