^Probably. I've turned it off both globally from time to time and locally on certain websites. That might explain it. Or maybe I've just been hitting their free articles. The last couple I hit were free.
I vacillate on java all the time. And I do use an oddball browser. That way folks will know it's me pirating their stuff.

What happened to that $20m or so project for all the buildings across the street from the Tap Room?
Sounds like the MX DGX is opening in the “coming weeks.”

Despite WeWork closing "dozens" of locations, its St. Louis office will survive:

https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/new ... 1#cxrecs_s
A company spokesperson told the Business Journal that "WeWork has no plans to exit our St. Louis location at this time, and we look forward to continuing to provide our members here with unmatched space, service and flexibility."
WeWork opened its 60,000-square-foot St. Louis location at One Metropolitan Square in downtown St. Louis in late 2019. The company did not disclose the occupancy rate of the St. Louis location.
Recently, WeWork said it would shutter locations in the Bay Area, Denver, Washington, D.C., and others. In those cases, WeWork is attempting to "rightsize its building portfolio" in a bid to turn around profits, according to reports. It's not clear how many locations WeWork has closed.

Every time I see this thread reappear, I LOL. "State of Downtown" sounds like Free State of Jones or something.

You can only survive so long with 5-8 regulars when there is no office activity next door at US bank CDC or locker dome across the streetGoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Feb 17, 2021Looks like Washington Ave Post is on the ropes again...

DGX looks like it will be opening any day. Doors were still locked this morning but shelves were completely stocked and cashiers were being trained.

Why you’ll be hearing a lot less about ‘smart cities’

Sure that but also that no city ever has money to invest in smart tech so for companies to deploy it and make it worthwhile financially they need to be able to sell data. This is one thing were the federal gov/state gov need to create a cities modernization pot of money that DOT doles out and we need to do this quickly to catch upchris fuller wrote: ↑Feb 23, 2021Why you’ll be hearing a lot less about ‘smart cities’

I've started coming back to the office on a regular basis. I hope other people start coming back soon, because downtown is pretty depressing right now.
Is that Jimmy John's on Pine going out of business, or what? Their hours have been wrong for years on their website, google and every other social-type site, showing an 8pm closing and weekend hours, which is all laughably wrong.
Even today at 1:15pm their website won't let you order.
Either it's not open at all or it's open very few hours and hours that they refuse to publish anywhere.

I am very afraid of this. My dentist is downtown (selected as they were close to my office even though I have now been home for almost a year). My hygienist retired, said it has been pretty empty around there and they are having issue filling a downtown position. I am hearing rumblings of one corporation downsizing their employment base downtown due to crime and maybe relocating them elsewhere or outside of downtown. I have not heard as much about the crime but I REALLY hope we are not losing momentum there.debaliviere wrote: ↑Mar 08, 2021I've started coming back to the office on a regular basis. I have not been down to see - hope the GDX is helping out some.
My (large) downtown employer has no plans to return to the office before the end of the summer.
STL isn't alone at least. Talking with people in normally active downtowns like Chicago and Seattle and the narrative is the same - it's a ghost town.debaliviere wrote: ↑Mar 08, 2021I've started coming back to the office on a regular basis. my hope as well. I have been downtown 1 day out of 5 since May of 2020, going to 3/5 next week. It would be great if a bunch of employers did this all at once. I agree, DT has been bleak. BUT the DGX is fantastic!debaliviere wrote: ↑Mar 08, 2021I've started coming back to the office on a regular basis. I decided to pull out the stopwatch at Tucker and Pine today. Tucker gets 1:25 of green light in mid-afternoon, which is an incredibly long time for pedestrians to stand there.
How can we say on one hand traffic speed and reckless driving is a problem, but we can't re-time the lights to make it even slightly more difficult? Is this difficult to do, just give every street 20 or 30 seconds of green, no matter the traffic?
Washington is the most infuriating, walking N/S across that. Why do we want to give cars on our top pedestrian street a minute-long green light while simultaneously putting up barriers?

"Hey, we're adding a bike lane, but here's 6 lanes you still need to cross. And we'll figure out light timing and sensors some time in the next 20 years."
It was a nice low effort bandaid.

I'm near the corner of 7th & Market. One of the few that has been in the office nearly every day since the summer. The BofA bldg, Spire, and the Peabody / Gateway Plaza bldg have to be < 10% occupancy.
We've had some gorgeous days this week. Been out at lunch a few times - City Garden, Kiener Plaza have been empty. There's a sense of loss that is hard to describe. For an area that was marginal to begin with, it feels like COVID has permanently amputated an appendage.
6 months from now, when the vaccine has well and truly been distributed, I wonder if those buildings will be >20% occupied.... this has changed. Permanently. People aren't coming back.
Someone above said it better, DT has been bleak. What is going to change that.
