Bruh look at this clown from MoLeg:

This guy represents St. Charles.  Shouldn't have any say in what's happening in the City.  Wanna bet the owner has a connection?  By all means please move your businesses across the Missouri River.  They'll fit in great with other poor operators (Lloyd and Harry's I'm looking at you).

^ yeah, i'm guessing owner-bro has some bro-friends that know moleg-bro and they were like, "hey, bruh, those city libtards are trying to oppress us for being d*ckbags. let's beat 'em up!"

So Wheelhouse appears to have posted this on their Instagram:

To our CUSTOMERS:

The City of St. Louis has issues The Wheelhouse and Start Bar a one year business closure for refusing to treat you like children.

Since April of 2013 we have purposely created spaces for you to live your life as you choose. We have been respecting your rights as customers and sovereign individuals capable of making your own decisions.

Starting in May of 2020, we were ordered to be the mask police and micro manage your social interactions. We believe you all are free to make your own decisions.
They've gone the full Sovereign Citizen bag of pachyderm $#!7 balls route. After a stunt like that I'm not sure I care if they ever open again. I wish them luck in their next endeavor . . . far far away from here.

Here’s my idea, and hear me out on it, Cupples District Giorodano’s.

That would be very popular, or at least I think it would be. Get something new to the region and something that’s fairly popular. I almost guarantee it would have wait times very often.

If that doesn’t work, then a Tootsie’s Lounge. It seems to be popular in Nashville and Panama City Florida.

I know these are chains but, they do good business and would bring quite a few people down.

Apparently he might sit on the state's "Small Business Board", so that might have something to do with it. No excuse though.

I happened to catch this last night. Must be why I never watch Fox 2. Such a garbage story.

"Never a blemish" on their record, but they fail to note all the blemishes that were the reason they're shut down for a year.

Sounds like a Spaghetti Factory on the Landing.  People go once, people realize it's mediocre, and go to Black Thorn instead.

Incredible that Spaghetti Factory is still open..

Tootsie's Orchid Bar has been franchised? That's horrible. No way they could even begin to recreate the magic that used to happen in the original. It's a crime to even try.

I’m not 100% sure if it was or wasn’t, but they have one at Pier Park in Panama City Beach and 2 in Nashville.

And I understand that Giorodanos would probably be like Spaghetti Factory, but if that can stay alive on the Landing, something like Giorodanos can certainly do well at Cupples

And while we are at it, let's put a Harry Caray's at the corner of Broadway and Clark!

But seriously, I think a bar/restaurant and museum to the last real St. Louis Italian mafia don is a great idea. Maybe they can even serve lasagna in a pie crust... 🙂

I kid, I kid...

Skip Giordano's and Harry Caray's.  Wouldn't mind a Portillo's though.  I always thought one Imo's location in Chicago... say Lincoln Park, would do BIG biz from STL transplants.  Don't think there's many Chicago transplants in the Lou, though.  So Giordano's wouldn't do well.  We like proper pizza!

I totally second Portillo's! I'm honestly amazed we haven't gotten one here yet. They're expanding like wildfire in Florida presently. But i'm certain there is a taste for it here in the STL metro.

I'd be all for having a Portillo's, their dipped Italian beef sammy is one of my favs.

^ Welcome to the board SRQ2STL! Did you relocate from Sarasota to STL? If so, why'd you make the move?

SRQ is a place I frequent and I see plenty of STL people there but not many heading the other way.

Oh, I've just been a silent observer/reader of these forums for a while. haha I only recently decided to jump in the conversation. I have actually been living in the STL since 2014. I was born and raised in Sarasota but relocated to STL via the San Francisco bay area actually. I wanted to be here because A) it just spoke to me. I saw nothing but positives for the type of lifestyle I wanted to live. and B) it's not swamp-ass wasteland Florida. 🙃✨

It has always been my firm belief that Florida should have NEVER EVER been a thing. It was a terrible idea from conception and is constantly a disaster in waiting. That's just my brief synopsis of thoughts re: florida....lol. Additionally, it has always been my firm belief that St Louis is a completely slept on place. For the cost of living...variety of recreational activities...arts..food scene..architecture...it simply cannot be beat. And this is coming from a guy who lived in Florida, Texas and California prior. The locals born and raised here love to sh*t on St Louis..but they have no clue what they're sitting on here.  I find myself constantly rolling my eyes and laughing at people's negativity towards this region. But conversely...the way many locals feel about St Louis...I feel precisely the same in equal measure about Sarasota. It truly goes both ways.

I think everyone should leave where they're from at least once in their life to gain perspective. I don't get never leaving where you're from...every single city and town in this country has its net positives and negatives. It's really just about which place speaks to you personally, in the end. People think I am nuts for being so gaga happy with living in St Louis. But I don't expect them to understand. And it doesn't matter if they do anyway, because I'm living for me, not them. St Louis is a huge part of my identity now. It's not where I am from, but it is very much home, in the mistiest sentimental sense. 💜

I would guess (based only on my personal observations) The largest amount of transplants to STL is from Chicago (or the Chicago outlying areas that would go for Chicago restaurants). Some of that may included people from STL that went to Chicago and came back. I feel like Chicago “chains” would do okay here with one or two prime locations. I don’t know if there is data out there that lists where most transplants are from though.

Portillo's makes a lot of sense to open downtown. Somewhere high profile like Cupples, Wash Ave or BPV. Imagine the lines during Cubs and Blackhawks games.

Additionally it would also make sense for them to build a suburban drive thru location somewhere along 64 or 270. Anymore than that would probably be overkill.

Forget Giordano's, I want a Lou Malnati's.

And unfortunately, I think if Portillio's ever did come to the Lou, it would be in Chesterfield, Streets of St. Charles, or Richmond Heights.  Some place where they could have a large drive through.

I’m thinking it would be on the Illinois side (edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Belleville). But point about drive thru stands.

Honestly, it seems like the right location for a Syberg's in the City

Edit: Forgot about the one on Market. Such a forgettable location though

My hope is that the folks at Drury decide to heavily invest in the Pear Tree Inn and build a new two-story glass base on their parking lot which extends out to the Market St. and the new 22nd St. sidewalks. A large, shiny, brand new retail space on that corner with a terrace and/or patio, for Syberg's or someone else, really seems like a no-brainer.

They could probably fit another tower on the lot if they really wanted to get freaky with it
