I’d say it already is one of the better urban ballpark views out there. But Pittsburgh will always take the cake in my opinion, even after BPV is built out. I love how you can see the river and their bridges from inside their park.bwcrow1s wrote: ↑Jun 26, 2020Really great angle from inside the ballpark. The depth is beautiful.
Once Phase III is built out this will be one of the best urban ballpark views in the country, no doubt. Of course, then you walk down Broadway. I'm so hopeful that the 4th Street/Chouteau's potential projects will really boost south Downtown into a dense zone of commerce and life.

I am just happy to see shiny new glass towers. Our view has always been great but literally never changed after Busch III opened, it just got a little stale. Considering it's the only new construction tower downtown from this economic cycle, you couldn't ask for a better location.

Perhaps the next build-out will take place not at the NE corner of BPV, but at the NW corner. That is where the "leaked" schematics for BPV II showed a potential office tower rising. Doing this will preserve a little while longer the NE corner views of the Old Courthouse - also, keeping the views preserved from 360 and Hilton at the Ballpark.
However they do it, I just want them to keep building up. The whole damn site was supposed to have been built out eleven years ago.

I couldn't agree more. PNC has been on my baseball stadium visit bucket list from the first time I watched a game played there on TV.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Jun 26, 2020I’d say it already is one of the better urban ballpark views out there. Yeah, this... it was generally considered one of the best urban views of an MLB stadium in the country from the moment it opened in 2006 (mainly because of the view of the Arch and Old Courthouse), even when Lake Dewitt was still there. The building out of BPV has just made it all the better.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Jun 26, 2020I’d say it already is one of the better urban ballpark views out there. Somewhat OT, but has anyone seen this picture yet? I stumbled upon it on Twitter, it was taken Saturday night when the Saharan dust cloud was passing over us. There's no filter being used in the picture, the sky was actually purple...
Must have missed it. But either the color science of their camera is horrible, or they cranked the saturation slider 'til it blew the color information.
^ Hey, it looks about as clear as the Four Seasons usually does!
But yeah...I don't think it matters what they put on there (ads, clock, actual games, etc.) it will probably never look quite right. It'll just be something we get used to, I guess. If it was longer and actually triangular they could have done interchangeable pennants, which may have still looked gaudy, but at least fit with the theme of baseball.
It would be kind of cool if they mounted a camera on the other side of the building and displayed the sky beyond on the LED panel...
I guess it wouldn't work so well for every angle on a cloudy day, but would look great on a clear day.

actually i don't hate that. they should just display the test pattern at all times.
Remember when the neighbors to the east of 212 South Meramec demanded a video screen to they wouldn't lose their sunsets?
The sky was just legitimately purple on Saturday night.bwcrow1s wrote: ↑Jun 29, 2020Must have missed it. But either the color science of their camera is horrible, or they cranked the saturation slider 'til it blew the color information.
Here's a picture somebody got in Atlanta that night...
It would be hilarious if somebody pulled a Fight Club move, hacked into the monitor and just looped adult content in the middle of the World Series one day.urban_dilettante wrote: ↑Jul 01, 2020actually i don't hate that. they should just display the test pattern at all times.
If they stick with this color block Ellsworth Kelly look then I'm okay with it.

I could see it from the Hill and it was very bright indeed. So much light pollution for such an absurd and insignificant detail.
Well the way 2020 been going, maybe it’s a great landing spot for the aliens when they invade .

They seem to be rotating through the spectrum. I can't see the display, but I can see the sky change colours every 15 seconds or so...lol.
This was what it looked like at 10pm...urbanitas wrote: ↑Jul 02, 2020They seem to be rotating through the spectrum. I can't see the display, but I can see the sky change colours every 15 seconds or so...lol.
