Earthbound is opening a new taproom in Soulard at 1921 S. Ninth St. Looks like they are eying a late spring opening. It will be called "Satellite."

Glad to hear. I heard there was strong opposition over this by residents over, wait for it..., parking.

Rockwell Brewery has started on their roof - saw a guy power-washing the outside yesterday too. Hoping for some more dramatics soon.

Also their neighbor's buildings are for sale and they've been moving all of their stuff out pretty quickly the last week (I work across the street). Also there's 4-5 properties for sale on Vandeventer in the same little strip...

Yeah, noticed that too.
I've driven Vandeventer every morning for the last three years. That old Phillips station is an utter and absolute eyesore, hope someone has bigger, better vision for that.

Classic heh. I think it's also one of the reasons why I favor N/S finding a small portion of alignment along Tucker/Gravois, no matter how unattainable it is. A stop at the top of Soulard would be huge. Might dig into the bar shuttles a little bit though.

Seems like a cool joint -- cocktail ideas sound solid too.

Craft beer Cellar is opening their second location off Chippewa in the South Hampton neighb.

This project is getting super-charged with the addition of a second location of The Living Room joining forces with Craft Beer Cellar

While the businesses will share the space, Larson said their payment systems will be separate. The building, which used to be a service station and car dealership, will seat approximately 50.

On July 1 I started a quest to have a beer at every St. Louis area craft brewery that has an on premise tasting room/bar open to the public. I think I have completed St. Louis City. Does anyone know of a place inside the city limits that is not on this list?

Perennial Artisan Ales, Heavy Riff Brewing, 4 Hands Brewing Company, Center Ice Brewing Company, Schlafly Brewing, Twisted Roots Brewing, Wellspent Brewing Company, Brew Hub Taproom, Modern Brewery, Morgan Street Brewery, Charleville Brewing Company, Square One Brewing, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, 2nd Shift Brewing, Alpha Brewing Company, Civil Life Brewing Company, Earthbound Beer

Rockwell will get added to this in a few weeks and I plan to visit them ASAP.

^Narrow Gauge is on my list for the county. I only have them, Ferguson and Side Project to visit and then I will be done with St. Louis County as well (until Mackenzie (MKNZ) opens at I-44 and 141 on or about August 31).

My total list is everything in Saint Louis City, Saint Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County and Jefferson County in Missouri plus Jersey County, Madison County, St. Clair County and Monroe County in Illinois. By my count there are 47 brewers that meet the criteria. I've been to 27 so far (14 since July 1, 13 I had been to before).

From Sauce.com
The William K. Busch Brewing Co., producer of Kraftig beer, will soon expand its operation. The company has announced plans to build a new brewery and distillery at 4151 Benne Road in Defiance, near the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area. Construction is expected to begin this winter.

The 20,000-square-foot facility will include a brewery and distillery to brew small batch beers and spirits, along with a farm-to-table restaurant concept. Future additions include a small petting zoo, gift shop and museum, among other amenities. The building, which will resemble a rustic European barn, was designed by architect Rod Kazenske.

A few years ago he said he wanted to eventually brew Kraftig in StL. Is this that brewery or is this a different project?
No, Brewmaster Marc Gottfried said the beers the new brewery will put out wouldn’t be an extension of the Kraftig line.

Makes me wonder if there are still plans for opening a Kraftig brewery in town.

Personally, I wonder if this is what he'd had in mind for Grant's Farm. Feels more like that to me, what with the barn and the petting zoo. Will be interesting to see, in any case.

I am actually working on going to all of the craft brewers in the area that have a tasting room or bar so I have a list of the local area.

The top section is places that have a public tasting room or a bar associated with them.

The second section are places that do not currently have their own tasting room or bar.

After Hours in the bottom section does have some beers on tap at Friendship Brewing in Wentzville occasionally as the brewers are related to each other.

Beer City,

Excel was outside of my area for the first phase. I drew the line in Illinois at the four closest counties, Jersey, Madison, St. Clair and Monroe. You could throw Calhoun in as well but there are no breweries there. I'll be updating that list today. In addition to Bluewood moving into Benton Park, Petrichor is changing their upcoming location to the old Llewelyn's in WingHaven.

Rockwell Beer Company is set to open this Thursday, November 29. They won't have their own beer on tap until the weekend or maybe early next week.

^I am shocked in some ways, that Kraftig is ceasing operations. Especially since he started building a brewery. I would think before ceasing operations, he would sell to a buyer that wants to continue what WK Busch started. I am disappointed. I actually like Kraftig. I wonder what is driving this decision…..deficient sales figures I assume.

PS_ I put on 2 charity events, one for a friend that died of cancer and one that had a stroke, but was seriously impacted. Both people were complete strangers to Kraftig. They still donated more beer to the events than AB. That is not a knock on AB. They donated as well. I just wanted to point out that the Kraftig folks were extremely generous. They donated way more than we asked for. Good people!
