So that brings the number of intact urban intersections in the CBD down to four?

That 900 Washington building isn't a reconstruction? Who knew? It looks fairly fake/modern to me.

I would take 9th and Olive over that. At least the Schnucks brings streetlife along with its ugliness.

I understood that this was a wood frame structure, gone through multiple variations and essentially rotted out from the inside. Wood frame structures do run out there useful life in time and the only cost effective means is replacement. So why not a mix of new and old? Just not townhouses in this location is my two cents.
It was a full brick structure, not wood. You can read about it nd see pics earlier in the thread. It just got stuccoed and Tudored at some ridiculous point. We had one remaining townhouse in the Downtown core, and we threw it out. A loss for sure...

I sent them a message about the townhouse project. We'll see if they respond. My guess, would be no.

The Marriott Ballrooms? I'm not sure what you mean by "reconstruction" but that building, along with the garage behind it and the Grand Hotel expansion at 8th & Washington were all built in 2002/2003.

If this turns out to be a parking lot, I might just have to move. I don't get it anymore.

For god's sake. The area is being used as a storage/staging area during the rehab of the buildings to the East of it. Would you rather have them close 10th street? When I last spoke with the construction manager, Fall of 2017, he told me the plan is still to build row houses on that site. I have reservations about how that is really going to work out. But, my understanding is that it is still the plan.

Is that par for the course to close down streets for a building rehab? Asking honestly as I don't live there but most seem to keep the streets open for larger rehabs.

From TWG:

"We expect the staging and construction of the apartments to be complete at the end of 2018. We expect construction of 923 to commence at the beginning of 2019! "

success! With your success would you mind trying Brandonview to try to get the skinny on the number of units and estimated opening on the Mercantile project? I called but didn't get anywhere. :x

I received a response from TWG this morning, and it offered a few more details. Sounds like the townhomes may be in doubt as they're giving consideration to the neighborhood association, but they seem to have every intention of developing the lot.

We are completing the renovation of both the 12 story and the 5 story building and will have those completed this year. The lot where the building was removed is being developed and we hope to reach an agreement in what way soon. Our ownership is working with the local association for exactly what uses they would like to see there. We have drawings for walk up townhomes there currently but not sure the association there is on board with that. I will update you when I have more to share.
That's from a TWG project manager.

I still predict a paved lot. Maybe I've just gotten cynical.

DNA opposed this project but it was approved from what i understand, so they're free to build the townhouses.

I thought the townhouse proposal was how the demo was initially approved. Now they're saying the neighborhood association will dictate what gets built? Sounds weird.

^Maybe they want to make nice with the NA since they have other projects cooking that might need approval later? Never hurts to play well with others, even after the fact. If DNA is happy with how this turns out in the end they'll probably look past any disputes early on. And that'd be a good association to have on your side for future projects, I'd think. Anyway . . . I look forward to seeing what they propose when all the chips fall. I really hope this loss is but temporary.

I presume this is moving along? It's been a while since I've been to this corner of downtown. I did find that it is called "Level on Locust" and has a website with floor plans:

^ Looking Good. Thanks for sharing the photo.

The first floor of the smaller building is the leasing center. I will give this project about another month till we see it open. Windows appear to be all that's left to be installed.

Any information on the (RIP) Tudor Building site? Haven't driven past in a while, but it doesn't seem like anything has happened, or has been officially proposed other than a handful of rudimentary sketches..

My previous post was wrong. This appears close to being completed. Construction fencing is down, model units are ready, hallways are ready, units look completed, windows are all in and spotlights are on. The units in the shorter building appear to have an old fashioned ceiling that is similar to the one inside of Crown Candy. Will this place will have retail space?

Photos from tonight...

Sadly, I am losing hope of anything being built at 10th and Locust. I thought that a proposal would've been presented by now for that corner. There were townhomes but were those for real or just filler? I can't imagine what else could fit on that lot unless the developer buildings something tall and thin but that would be stretching it.

I noticed they added a curb cut on 10th when they poured the sidewalks. You know what that means...
