St.Louis' best bet for 500ft high rise is if its a mixture of residence hotel and office other than that can t see that happening in a long time.
100 will be a foot taller than the boatman's bank building aka Bank of America

I think it depends upon the site... prime parcels like One Hundred in CWE warrant tower heights. I also think most of the remaining parcels in the core CBD do, too. .But in general I agree throughout the city as a whole more infill of lesser heights is what will sustain our future.

I am 100% in support of the Central Park affect around Forest Park. I think One Hundred is perfect. I just hope the adjacent site doesn't clash with it (honestly considering doing a conceptual 3D model on how the Koman site should be used).
But even downtown, I'd rather see several more 200' buildings between the river and Jefferson. Great cities are made by their fabric, not their skyscrapers. Start looking at St. Louis from the sidewalk, not the view from the Poplar Street Bridge.

Exactly. And 200' buildings may not even be necessary. That's like 15+ stories. I'd love to see several more 5-10 story buildings in downtown.

I think context matters. If these were being built in Chicago no they wouldn't have an effect on the skyline. But how many 30+ story buildings does StL have? Met Square, AT&T, Courthouse, US BANK, laclede gas and BOA?

So yeah I think that if we increase our number of 30+ story towers by 50% that could have a an impact on our skyline.
I almost hate floors as a measure, sine they vary so much. Eagleton is apparently 28 stories, but 557 feet. By the first measure Laclede Gas would appear taller, but . . . if you've been in town you know it's not. Not even in the same league. The city has five buildings of greater than four hundred feet, not counting the arch, and a dozen over three hundred. Again, not including the wicket or anything in Clayton for that matter. (Of which there's at least the Plaza over four hundred and perhaps a few things over three.)

Anyway, be it midrise or high I'm happy to see new buildings, so long as the design is good.

^That looks correct, Aprice. What a great visual in that picture. I firmly believe over the next decade this square block has the potential to go from 4 surface parking lots to the most dense, tallest "urban" block in the city. What a transformation that would be.

It also emphasizes how insane it is that this square block has remained this way for so long. It's the most prime real estate in the most prime neighborhood in the city. Hopefully Koman gets going with something meaningful in the extremely near future. This neighborhood is so hot we have a proposal to build an AC hotel in what right now is essentially a back alley yet this prime, park facing lot remains parking. Hopefully they have something massive up their sleeves.

For those of you just joining us, there haven't been any new renderings from any different angles. A new rendering was released last week, exact same angle as the previous rendering, with tweaked materiality and a shuffling of floors/terraces towards the top of the tower.

Pretty cool stuff! I wish they had used the new rendering though. I'm telling myself that the switch to 5 Level Tiers at the top was a choice by Jeanne Gang. I mean, I used to sit and stare at the old rendering but I still catch myself staring at the new rendering.

As sexy as One Hundred i can't help but like all 3 of them. If I'm ranking of course One Hundred comes first but I'm really liking One Cardinal Way though i wish it were closer to 400 ft then you have 300 SB which isn't as sexy but with more glass on both sides will be a tie between One Cardinal Way. I'm hoping theres more announcements on high rises in the near future. I don't think St.Louis is ever going to get a building approaching over 5-600 feet in a very longtime but anything is possible

Isn’t it kinda weird that no additional renderings have been released yet? And there haven’t even been any updates on Studio Gang’s website either- the project status still says “In Design”. Wouldn’t they be eager to announce the progress of this signature project?

Technically there has been an updated rendering. Just from the exact same angle. And we all have that one friend who always takes their selfies from the EXACT same angle. Sometimes they're attractive from other angles, sometimes they aren't...
As for the architect's website, I don't know a whole lot about Studio Gang but sometimes companies just don't pour a whole lot into promotion and advertising because they don't really need to. That includes updating their own website.

Just the western parcel. So, looking at your map the eastern boundary is that line of trees down the middle. The map in the PD article and webcam appear to confirm this, but it looks like a portion of the eastern parcel is being utilized for staging materials and equipment. So total development site is just a bit over 0.7 acre.

I'd be surprised if they stop at that line of trees but it could very well be possible (dark red shaded area). The current hard hat zone construction fence is both shaded areas. And then I'm guessing some contractor parking is on the other half of that lot.
