You can really see how deep the hole is for the parking garage

The crane would be one of the tallest structures in the St Louis region.newstl2020 wrote:(HUGE nerd) So excited for the crane jump. Seeing a crane at ~500' above the Clayton skyline is going to be so cool.
Exactly:chaifetz10 wrote: ↑Jan 18, 2018They added a fairly interesting and heavy duty steel structure bump out near the top of the SE corner. It’s just floating there in mid air. Perhaps this will be a crane connection point so they can jump up another 100 feet or so?

It's interesting how far behind the steel is lagging the core. Is this similar to construction of Centene 1? I cannot recall offhand.
For those who are interested, it didn't happen this weekend. Not sure if weather or logistics played a part, but no jump in height just yet!newstl2020 wrote: ↑Jan 20, 2018Anyone have any inside info into the timing of the crane jump? Would be cool to see.
It's all done by an "outer shell" of sorts that is at the top of the crane. While not the cab itself, there's a piece that essentially wraps around the central structure that is hollow and can lift the cab and crane arm up so that the new section can be added to the top. The lifting shell then lets the cab and crane rest back down so it can move up to the next level and the process starts again.FrankRider wrote: ↑Jan 29, 2018So I've watched the camera stills frame by frame from Sunday and while I can see the tower crane lifting extension pieces up to the top, the next frame shows the jump in height and for the life of me I can't figure out how they stick these pieces in. Is the cab lifting itself and somehow inserting the new piece? And if so, what keeps the whole thing from toppling while another piece is bolted into what I would assume to be an insertion gap? I don't see any other assisting / temporary cranes?
No need to watch the stills....Just select the live video feed option.FrankRider wrote:So I've watched the camera stills frame by frame from Sunday and while I can see the tower crane lifting extension pieces up to the top, the next frame shows the jump in height and for the life of me I can't figure out how they stick these pieces in.
